Theme: Think Again

TEDxYouth@FAIHS seeks to inspire our school's community and the larger Bay Area community by promoting conversation about relevant concepts, paradoxes, and issues. We provide an opportunity for students to voice their ideas to a larger audience in an environment which encourages discussion and debate.

Join us for our third annual event at the Dennis Gallagher Arts Pavilion (66 Page Street, San Francisco) on Saturday, February 25th, 2017. This year, our theme is "Think Again," giving our audience an opportunity to reconsider our preconceived notions of the world.

Amir Saleh

Student

Amir is an Iranian-American junior at in the International Baccalaureate at International High School in San Francisco. He enjoys learning about the biological and chemical sciences. Outside of school, he enjoys playing doubles tennis, swimming and traveling. He believes that high school is an exciting and dynamic time, that high schoolers should spread their newly acquired ideas, and TEDx is a great way to do so.

Genna Corlett

Student

Genna Corlett is a senior at International High School who is excited to study social anthropology in the United Kingdom next fall. With passions for psychology and social conflict, she is interested in linking the two together to brainstorm reasonable solutions for moving forward. She is also an avid artist and sailor.

Jo-Loretta Roberts

Student

Jo-Loretta Roberts is a high school senior in the economics track of the French Baccalaureate at International High School in San Francisco. She has been a volunteer and intern at the San Francisco Mental Health association throughout her high school career. As a strong believer in safe work and school environments, she finds it vital to our society to help reform mental health stigma elimination to an international scale. She hopes to share her experience and spread awareness to a larger demographic of people such as parents and teachers.

Madeleine McGrath

Student

Madeleine McGrath is a senior in the Sciences Track of the French Baccalaureate at International High School in San Francisco. She has been conducting an independent study in Linguistics and is looking forward to bringing psycholinguistic and semantic insights to "Objectivity Is Not An Ideal."

Maria Camila Riaño

Student

Maria Camila Riaño is a seventeen year old junior at International High school in the International Baccalaureate track. She was born and lived in Colombia before starting school in San Francisco. She is passionate about visual art, biology, and is an avid reader. She first discovered a fascination in the topic of child marriage while reading an article in National Geographic, and since then her interest has only grown. She believes TEDx is an amazing and engaging way to spread awareness and ideas.

Michelle Haner

Director and teacher

Passionate about the intersection of arts, education and social change, Michelle is an educator and theater maker who has worked extensively in the United States and overseas. She studied at Harvard University (B.A), the University of Paris (M.A), UCLA (M.F.A.) and L’Ecole Jacques LeCoq. She teaches IB Theater and serves as the Artistic Director of the after-school performing arts program at the French-American International School and is a member of foolsFURY, EST-LA and the Classical Theater Lab.
