The 1st in the TEDxCorkSalon series is a discussion about vintage culture and takes place on 16th June 2016 at The Village Hall, Patrick's Quay, Cork City. The goal of this salon is to highlight Cork city as a destination for the vintage loving tourist.
The evening will be divided in three sessions :
Session 1) Live speakers from the Cork community.
---- Eilis Dillon (Co-Owner, Records & Relics) - Eilis will talk about buying vintage as a way to express individuality, romanticism and the authentic self in this modern world.
---- Polkadot Twintage: Putting the ASS into sassy will speak about the Adventures of the polyamourous polka dot dress.
---- 'The Contenders' : Jackie Browne & Micheal O'Driscoll
---- Bernadette Connolly (Cork Environment Forum) will speak about vintage culture's contribution to sustainability
---- Emma Finn (Irish Pin-Up)
---- Paula Curtis (Hairstylist, The Chair ) will speak about borrowing the glamour of the past to incorporate it into the plastic of today and do a live fab hairstyle demo with a willing participant from the audience.
Session 2) A show and tell session. Guests are encouraged to bring a vintage item they own and share its story.
Session 3) Vintage themed social with entertainment, interactive vintage inspired activities, tea, coffee and cakes.
