In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Chantal Brine

Chantal leads a venture focused on youth career preparation and employment. As Vice President, Youth Employment with Venor, an Atlantic Canada talent firm, she brings her experience in organizational change, human resources, community relations, entrepreneurship and technology to bear in helping post-secondary students and graduates transition from student to professional. She follows a simple yet powerful mantra while pursuing what makes her happy: “Life is too short to do something that you are not passionate about.”

Genevieve Boulet

Dr. Genevieve Boulet is a Math Education professor at Mount Saint Vincent University. She’s interested in the role of language, history, and play in the development of mathematical thinking and the use of virtual environments to explore learning of mathematical phenomena.

Gerald Walsh is the President of Gerald Walsh Associates, whose mission is to help organizations find the right employees and help individuals find the right career. He is a Career Expert and Author.

Mike Sangster

Mike Sangster is a Pediatric Physiotherapist and an Adjunct Faculty at Dalhousie University. He is also an international volunteer who has fostered partnerships with rehabilitation clinicians through annual capacity building medical missions in Peru, Thailand, Cuba, India and St. Lucia.

Om Agarwal

Om Agarwal is a Grade 9 student, a programmer, a Designer and Developer, the Founder of Stop Being Bullied. He has spoken at the International Conference of Cyber-Crime. Even at his age, he is already quite accomplished.

Rob Thacker

Dr. Rob Thacker is an astrophysicist, an educator, and a media personality. He’s a professor of Astronomy and Physics at Saint Mary’s University and a Canada Research Chair. He’s worked on early universe cosmology, structure formation, and on high redshift galaxy formation and the impact of AGN feedback on the downsizing phenomenon. As a core member of the Virgo Consortium, he's played a role in the latest generation of simulations.

Tyler Simmonds

Tyler Simmonds is a Filmmaker, a Writer and Artist, an Entrepreneur, and a Mental Health Advocate from North Preston. He uses his creative talents to inspire others and bring awareness to mental health issues. In 2016, he was won the best short film award at the Bluenose Ability Film Festival for his film, In My Mind.

Wade Smith

Wade Smith is the Principal of Halifax Citdel High School. He is an educator, an administrator, a mentor, and a community leader. The Coast newspaper called him “an outspoken critic of the status quo.”
