Explorers, storytellers, photographers, scientific pioneers, visionaries and provocateurs from all parts of the globe.
We will watch TED2011 conference and present our local view on the main TED2011 theme with the help of a few Speakers from Timisoara city.
Horia is the first Romanian to reach the summit of K2, Manaslu, Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. In 2009 Horia received the “Spirit of Mountaineering” award.
He's a former romanian badminton champion and a big entrepreneur (Joe, Artima, Interpart, Banu Sport, Banuinvest, etc)
Virgiliu Pop is one of world's specialists in the area of space property rights. A member of the International Institute of Space Law, Virgiliu has authored two books and several acclaimed papers in the field of space law and policy, and was interviewed by prestigious media outlets as diverse as New Scientist, Space.com/MSNBC, The Space Show, La Tercera (Chile), Ta Nea (Greece), Geo Magazine (Germany), BBC 4 (UK), Publico (Spain), DR (Denmark) and several publications in his native Romania
Dr. OMETA Ioan has achieved a vast experience in healing patients with the help of alternative medicine by combining traditional Chinese medicine, physical therapy, reflexology and medical gymnastics with his own inventions. Continuously improved and used over the last 30 years on more than 14,000 different patients, his inventions have had exceptional results. Dr. OMETA is one of the first Romanian acupuncturists from the Western part of the country, founder of the Faculty of Physical Therapy in Timisoara, Romania, and holder of 5 invention patents and two other pending.
A PhD in Medicine, Daniela Reisz is a neuroscientist and world explorer. In 2001 she started her life's adventure joiningg a group of people travelling by cars from Bucharest to Dakar in Senegal where they donated the automobiles to the autorities. It was a one month trip with great life-changing adventures, 10.000 km of driving and meeting local people while trying to understand the difference between cultures. The trip took them from Romania through Hungary, Austria, Italy, France, Maroc, Mauritania to Senegal.
Rob van Kranenburg
(EXCLUSIVE pre-recorded TEDxTimisoara Talk) Rob van Kranenburg wrote the ‘The Internet of Things’ and co-organized the DIFR (a broad range of pro and anti RFID positions) network in the Netherlands. He works one day a week for Professor Ben Schouten at Fontys Ambient Intelligence in Eindhoven as member of the Lectoraat. He is the Founder of Council.
