“Outside the Lines” is the theme for the 2016 TEDxTurtleCreekWomen event, scheduled for Friday, October 28, 2016.
The day-long immersive event will start with a continental breakfast that allows the audience members to mingle, followed by 9 speakers with a lunch break and final reception where audience members can meet the speakers and continue the conversations on ideas worth spreading.

Carmin MacMillan

Carmin holds a Master’s in Organizational Leadership from Eastern University in St. David’s, PA, and a Bachelor’s in Religious Education from Tyndale University College in Toronto, Canada. She has served as the Regional Program Manager for World Vision Canada, and with Canadian Baptist Ministries as Global Programs Manager. As Executive Director of the Wesley Mission Center in Mansfield, TX, Carmin leads a team that serves to “empower people on their journey towards self-sufficiency & wholeness.” Carmin also currently serves as an adjunct professor at University of Texas at Arlington teaching classes in the Non Profit Management Certification program. Debra Gloria

Professional Photographer
Born and raised in San Antonio, TX, Debra’s love of photography became evident when she chose her elective classes in college. Photography quickly became the only subject she was interested in studying. She has been a freelance photographer for 28 years, including shooting advertising photography in New York for Fortune 500 companies, before returning to Dallas. Debra is active in shooting for charitable causes, “Sharing my talent is what I feel is my biggest calling, I love watching people look at my interpretation of the beauty I see in them. Judge Tonya Parker

Presiding Judge - Dallas Civil District Courts
Since being elected to the 116th Civil District Court of Texas, Judge Tonya Parker consistently is recognized as an exemplary jurist with ratings from the Dallas Bar Association Evaluation Polls among the highest at over 90 percent. Reportedly, the first openly gay African-American elected to any office in Texas, she serves as a mentor and role model across multiple communities and inspires young women to run for public office.

Judy Hoberman, President of Selling In A Skirt, is an international speaker, trainer, coach and mentor. Her 30 years in sales has given her both the knowledge and a sense of humor about how men and women sell, work and live differently. College Student/Motocross Competitor
Kiana is a full-time college student with a passion for extreme sports. During a practice run for a key motocross race, Kiana suffered an injury that threatened to end her racing career. However, with her strong will to succeed, determination and support of her family, Kiana not only made a comeback, but has led the way in helping other injured athletes find ways to adapt and jump back in the game. When she is not searching for an adrenaline rush, she enjoys photography and art. Kiana aspires to travel the world, have a family, and own a successful photography business, all while sharing her story to inspire others to live their life to the fullest. Leticia Ferrer

Umbraphile - Total Solar Eclipse Chaser
Leticia Ferrer is an Umbraphile, a Total Solar Eclipse chaser. She’s traveled all over the world chasing Total Solar Eclipses, viewing her 15th eclipse in Palu, Indonesia, earlier this year. During her eclipse chasing, she’s stepped on six continents, and flew over the 7th, Antarctica. To maintain this hobby, she works as a Program Manager for an international telecommunications company. When not chasing eclipses, she’s active in Toastmasters, an avid yoga practitioner, sci-fi geek and recumbent biker.

Nakia Douglas

Executive Director - South Oak Cliff Feeder Pattern
Nakia Douglas earned his B. A. in Elementary Education from Livingstone College and a Master’s in Instructional Technology from Houston Baptist University. He has served as an Elementary Teacher (K, 1st & 2nd) and Administrator (Elementary, Middle and High School) for the last nineteen years. Nakia was the Founding Principal of the Barack Obama Male Leadership Academy at B.F. Darrell in Dallas ISD. He now serves as the Executive Director of the South Oak Cliff Feeder Pattern. In June of 2010, Nakia was charged with opening BOMLA. The all – male magnet campus focuses on Leadership Development with Accelerated Math and Science courses. Students receive instruction within a non-traditional technology infused setting inclusive of Extended School Days, Saturday Academies, Summer Camps and Non – traditional sports: Lacrosse, Rowing, Golf and foreign languages such as Latin, Spanish and Mandarin.

Sherry Lee White

Founder & CEO - Trulee Foods
Founder and CEO of Trulee Foods, Sherry Lee speaks, blogs and contributes to national publications on the topics of mind-body and food-mood relationships. Sherry’s lifelong fascination with the power of the mind to create physical transformation found real-life application when she was diagnosed with a debilitating autoimmune disease and clinical depression. With extreme gratitude for finding her own path back to health and happiness, she is passionate about sharing what she has learned. The only thing she is more passionate about is being mother to her four amazing children.
