Ali Cumberledge

Student Speaker
Ali Cumberledge is a tenth grader at Walton High School. In her free time, she enjoys playing soccer, reading, and spending time with her two dogs. She hopes to study psychology in the future. She thanks all her friends and family who support her and to the TEDx Board for this amazing opportunity.

Amy Aidman

Film and Media Studies Professor
Dr. Amy Aidman is an expert in the area of children and media research. As a Senior Lecturer at Emory University’s Department of Film and Media Studies she teaches classes on children and media and other media topics. She is the Director of the Media Studies degree programs. Aidman came to Emory in 2008 as a Senior Research Fellow with Emory’s Center on Myth and Ritual in American Life, where she conducted a study of media, myth, and ritual in families with teens. Before coming to Atlanta, she was Associate Dean for Research at the University of Illinois’ College of Media, and taught at the Institute of Communications Research. Dr. Aidman is a co-author of Media and the Make-Believe Worlds of Children: When Harry Potter Meets Pokemon in Disneyland, an international study of children’s fantasies and their relationship to media.

Billy Hoffman

Director of Product
From hacking into sites as a penetration tester, to optimizing performance for the Fortune 500, Billy has over a decade of deep technical experience into the inner workings of complex web applications. Billy was the lead researcher at the web security software company SPI Dynamics, where he developed and automated patented techniques to exploit web vulnerabilities, and spoke extensively at conferences such as BlackHat and RSA about his findings. Following SPI’s acquisition by Hewlett-Packard in 2007, Billy managed HP’s web security research group. Billy founded the web performance company Zoompf in late 2009 where he developed the industry’s first site-wide performance analysis product which tells you the root-cause of your performance issues. He has spoken at industry conferences such as Velocity and has been a contributing author for O’Reilly’s Web Performance Daybook. At Rigor, Billy is the Director of Product where he focuses on delivering bestt-in-class performance software.

Mona Shah Joshi

International stress management and personal development expert
International stress management and personal development expert, Mona Shah Joshi has an insatiable quest for knowledge that guides her passion as an instructor, writer and keynote speaker. Since 1996, she has facilitated more than 50,000 hours of programs in mind, body and wellness across 4 continents for the Art of Living Foundation and the International Association for Human Values. As a sought-after public speaker on meditation, women’s empowerment and work-life management, Mona has been invited to speak at numerous conferences, symposiums and corporations. Able to connect across diverse ages and cultural backgrounds, Mona teaches everyone from inner city youth to Fortune 500 CEOs. Mona has published popular cover and feature stories in Spirituality & Health Magazine, Fulfillment Daily and Bold Magazine.

Tim and Tanya Chartier

Mathematicians
Tim Chartier is a professor in the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Tanya Chartier is Executive Director of the Davidson Center. The Chartier’s mime combines masks, puppetry, and classical mime illusions into a distinctive style. Their presentation, Mime-matics, which introduces mathematical ideas through mime has been performed throughout the United States and in the Netherlands, Japan, and South Korea. The Chartiers have trained at Le Centre du Silence mime school, the Dell'Arte School of International Physical Theater and with the world-renowned mime artist Marcel Marceau. Their work has been covered by such media sources as NPR and the New York Times.
