Aarika Charlebois & Emily Krutzelmann
Aarika and Emily are students in the Environmental Technician program at Algonquin College’s Waterfront Campus in Pembroke. Aarika's passion for learning and self-motivation, has helped her develop a strong work ethic and see value in taking every opportunity that comes her way.
Emily’s tenacity to achieve her goals and dream big is best summed up in one of her favourite quotes: “Things work out best for those who make the best of how things work out.”
Craig Gauthier
His Twitter profile says “nothing ordinary”, which is probably the best way to describe Craig Gauthier. A self-professed “creative geek”, wears many hats as an entrepreneur, consultant, filmmaker, author and speaker. He quickly found his passion for leadership and teaching when he accepted a position as a professor in the School of Advanced Technology in Ottawa, Canada. During his five-year tenure, Craig won multiple awards for teaching and program development including the Most Outstanding Teacher award nominated by his students and peers. In 2017, Craig will be travelling across Canada in 150 days producing and hosting a new series called Show Me Canada – Where the World Lives celebrating Canada’s 150th birthday. He will also be releasing his forthcoming book WiFi vs Water: Finding Humanity in a Digital World early next year.
Dr. Duncan Stewart
Dr. Duncan Stewart heads a longer-range, low technology-readiness-level research team that pushes the frontier of science and the frontier of technology simultaneously to create DARPA-like outcomes on relevant Canadian problems.
In 2008, he co-authored a series of papers reporting the discovery of the fourth fundamental ‘memristor’ circuit element. This work has led to a new field of research and technology development worldwide in memristive materials and devices for computing.
Dr. Stewart holds a BASc in Engineering Physics from the University of Toronto and a PhD in Applied Physics from Stanford University.
Mark Lesinski
Mark Lesinski was appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of Canadian Nuclear Laboratories Limited (CNL) effective September 13, 2015. CNL is Canada’s premier nuclear science and technology laboratory managed by the Canadian National Energy Alliance (CNEA). Mr. Lesinski has a distinguished career in nuclear science, operations, projects, and decommissioning. His 38 years of experience spans commercial and government nuclear facilities, from power reactor operations and major retrofit projects to management of decontamination and decommissioning (D&D). He brings private-sector rigour and efficiency to transform CNL.
Michael Nolan
Chief Nolan has served as a Paramedic, Critical Care Flight Paramedic, Professor, Deputy Chief of the Ottawa Paramedic Service, Director of Emergency Management for the City of Ottawa, President of the Paramedic Chiefs of Canada and as Chairman of KidActive, a not for profit organization that supports healthy childhood development. He has received the Ontario Association of Paramedic Chiefs Leadership Award, The Paramedic Chiefs of Canada Leadership Award, The Governor General of Canada Exemplary Service Medal and the Queen’s Jubilee Medal for outstanding contribution to Canada. Chief Nolan currently serves as the Director of Emergency Services and Chief of the Paramedic Service for the County of Renfrew.
Mitch Kurylowicz
Mitch Kurylowicz’s Project Jenga, a non-profit working to raise funds and awareness for gender equality in Kenya has to date directly raised over $750,000 towards a boys’ secondary school in rural Kenya. For the last five years, Project Jenga has hosted events across Canada with former speakers including Queen Noor of Jordan, Martin Luther King III, Martin Sheen, Marc and Craig Kielburger and many others. Mitch also serves on the Board of Directors of international charity and organization, WE (formerly Free The Children).
