As high school students, we face an uncertain future. People often ask what we will ‘be’ when we grow up, but we don’t know. We are already being told we may hold many different jobs in several different sectors. That means we will need a wide range of skills and attributes to successfully navigate the future. The world keeps changing; we have to be open to 'break through' to the new challenges an unknown future presents, and embrace the constant breakthroughs in technology and society which are now an irrefutable part of our world.

Ayşe Ezgi Öner

Student at Robert College
I'm a 18 year old, currently a junior in my high school. I call myself an entrepreneur. I've been involved in many activities ever since when I was little. I'm the CPO in RCJA, I'm a part of the honorary committee called the Feyyaz Berker Fellowship, I opened the Robert College Law Society as of this year and I've been involved in various organizations requiring teamwork and leadership. However, the most significant of all of the things I've experienced were the community involvement projects I've done. I'm in the CIP (Community Involvement Project) Board in Robert College and unlike many I do these project to pursue not an academic goal but for a rather moral goal. I took part in many international and national organizations about peace and entrepreneurship. I aspire to change the world, as I hope everybody does.

Duygu Manioğlu

Student at Eyüboğlu High School
I have been an Eyuboglu student since preschool and am planning to study in U.S. The underlying cause behind my educational preferences is to study science. Ever since I was able to walk, science was a part of me. Going out to explore, seeing the experiments that the technology we use relies on and more caused me to devote myself to science. I inherited this curiosity from my family, I guess. It is a passion of mine and I am constantly on the look to find interesting stuff about the eternal universe, possibilities and discoveries. Through my family, friends and school, science became a part of me that I will never let go.

Jülide Dursun

Student at Eyüboğlu High School
Jülide Ece Dursun is an IB student at Eyüboğlu High School whilst also being a part-time student in Kadıköy Fine Arts High School, Vocal Department. Her passion for music took its shape when she started taking piano lessons from one of the foremost musicians in Turkey, Namık Yakuboğlu. She aims to become a multi-instrumentalist, while being able to play violin alongside piano. Her musical passion soon met with mathematics when she enrolled in The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) with a six-month long project where she combined maths with music. The project called “Voice of Fibonacci” has demolished the mentality that indicates that ‘positive Sciences and Arts shall never go together’ by combining maths with music. The project passed Regional Finals but did not win an award. Her determination to break through is as solid as a rock as she currently continues with another project, again combining arts with positive sciences.

Mert Erenel

Student at Eyüboğlu High School
Student at Eyüboğlu High School I dream of one day building a career in the world of film production (especially in superhero blockbusters). In my free time, I am an amateur photographer and filmmaker. I have made videos on behalf of my school and other organizations that I’ve been involved in. The main reason I love superhero movies is that beyond paper they show more depth of human consciousness and apart from the high-end blockbuster entertainment, they have more tools to better show human conflicts at a higher scale. I am a great fan of the works of Albert Camus (The Stranger), Nietzsche (Thus Spoke Zarathustra) and Herman Hesse (Damien) as well as fine directors such as Stanley Kubrick (A Clockwork Orange), Christopher Nolan (The Dark Knight Trilogy) and Lars Von Trier (Melancholia).

I am currently in my last year of studies at Eyüboğlu High School in Istanbul, Turkey. My hobbies include reading books (preferably English), playing video games on both the computer and console, playing table tennis and philosophic debate. Over the years, I have developed interests in many things, foremost among them a love of economics, public speech, debate and international politics and history.
