In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Gillian Mandich

Health and Wellness professor
Currently completing her doctoral studies at Western University in Health and Rehabilitation Science, Gillian Mandich’s research examines Health Promotion. Gillian is a teacher and the world is her classroom. Her personal mission is to educate people about evidence-based health information so they can lead a happy, healthy life. She teaches health and wellness across a variety of platforms (university classrooms, television, radio, podcasts, magazines, online, video, documentaries, etc.). Ji Hun Han

Architectural Engineering student
Jihun Han is from Busan, South Korea where he majors in architecture engineering. He wants to become an architect who builds safe buildings. His grandmother passed away about 15 years ago because her house was destroyed in a big typhoon. At that time, he decided to become an architect. He also wants to one day establish his own university that helps students who have a dream of becoming a designer or engineer. For TEDxYorkville he will talk about architecture which affects human life.

Jonghwi Park

Automotive Engineering Student
Jonghwi lives in Bucheon, Korea where he is a university student majoring in Automotive Engineering. 5 months ago, he finished his Korean military service where he repaired many cars for 2 years. As such, he knows a lot of information about repairing a car. For his TEDx talk, he is going to talk about the importance of maintaining a car.

Mami Amano

Fourth Year Law Major
Mami is a fourth-year student majoring in law. Her hometown is Akita in Japan which is somewhat rural. Since she was a little girl, she has been attracted by the idea of city life. Finally, she lives in Tokyo. This year became special for her because she never imagined that she could do a presentation at TEDx. Today, she is presenting about "time". She would like to explain how one way of thinking can change our lives.

Megumi Naka

University Senior
Megumi Naka is in her senior year at Seinan Gakuin University in Japan. She comes to TEDxYorkville to share her way to lead a happier life. She makes lists to be happier. She will also talk about how making lists can affect you. Why don’t you join her to be happier by making lists?

Min Je Kim

Psychology Major
Min Je Kim is a Korean university student and is majoring in Psychology. As part of that degree, she has had experience interacting with patients with some mental disorders. Today, she wants to tell her story and the lesson that she learned through it. She hopes you enjoy her talk and think about her topic.

Woo In Sim

Mathematics and Statistics double major
Woo In Sim grew up with a father who is a math teacher. This had a big effect on her and she has been interested in math since she was young. Currently, she is double majoring in Mathematics and Statistics in Korea. She strongly believes that understanding statistics is an important part of being an informed citizen and being able to evaluate decisions that affect you. For her talk, she will talk about how to maintain self-employment in a competitive business setting.

Yena Kim

Third Year Biology Major student
Yena is a third-year student at Handong Global University where she majors in biology. She had difficulty with English in her university, but she is getting over it now. She is practical and achieves whatever she wants. Her dream is to good-heartedly influence the world. She wants to share her dream and values through this presentation with you.

Yu Jin Song

Customer Service Student
Yu Jin Song is majoring in Customer Service in Korea. As she has been working on the front lines of a company, she has learned diverse things about how she should treat her customers. As society gets increasingly demanding, she strives to understand how we can live a better life with good service. She will talk about the importance of service.

Yuki Yamasaki

Mechanical Engineering Student
Yuki is a student who is majoring in mechanical engineering at Kyushu University in Japan. He has positive expectations regarding self-driving cars; however, he has also become aware of a gap between the public’s image of autonomous cars and their reality. He is here at TEDx to call people’s attention to the actuality of what is to come on our roads. He has also gathered many opinions from the public and is looking forward to sharing both of these. Based on this presentation, he asks you to begin to fathom the possibilities of the future of cars, society and human beings. Picture yourself driving without driving.
