TEDxMaumeeValleyCountryDaySchool is a local event organized by Maumee Valley students with the goal of giving high schoolers the opportunity to share their ideas and passions with a receptive audience. The event will host a variety of high school student speakers who will engage audience members in a discussion of wide-ranging topics relevant to our generation.

In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ella Musher-Eizenman

Ella Musher-Eizenman, sophomore at Ottawa Hills High school, is an avid volunteer at the Toledo Friendship Circle. She loves spending time with family and friends, taking pictures, and traveling. Ella hopes to one day work in the field of special education.

Emma Daugherty

Musician

Emma Daugherty, a sophomore at Maumee Valley Country Day School, is an aspiring musician and a talented athlete. She plays multiple instruments (including violin) and was this year’s Ohio Indoor State Champion in high jump for Division 2 and 3. Although college is still a couple of years away, Emma plans to double major in English and music.

Evan Heritage

Aspiring International Architect

Evan Heritage is an aspiring engineer, an avid golfer, and an okay singer. With the little free time he can find as a Maumee Valley Country Day School Freshman he plays golf and plays nerdy games like Dungeons and Dragons. He hopes to someday work as an architect in japan, but if MIT would let him attend their school he could die happy.

Ishani Gupta

Athlete and Volunteer

Ishani Gupta, a sophomore at Maumee Valley Country Day School, has spent her time in high school volunteering locally and internationally. Her interests range from playing piano in her free time to participating in a few school sports. She hopes to someday become a surgeon and to improve the quality of women's health.

Julia Xiong

Julia Xiong is a freshman at Maumee Valley Country Day School and, as of today, wants to one day be a plastic surgeon. Julia has been a zealous violinist for eight years and still isn't sure how she feels about school. As a California native, she hopes to return to her homeland and attend Stanford University in the future.

Kaartikeya Gupta

Scientist, Martial Artist, Dreamer

Kaartikeya Gupta is a junior currently attending Sylvania Southview. He is an active volunteer in the community and a practitioner of martial arts. He aspires to find a field in which he can continue to learn and explore. He hopes to never stop dreaming!

Maria Ciminillo

Learner, Animal Lover, and Environmentalist

Maria Ciminillo, a junior at Maumee Valley Country Day School, is a varsity cheerleader and lacrosse player. She is active in her school's animal rights club and is currently helping to organize Maumee Valley's prom. Her favorite subject in school is English and she hopes to go to college to study social sciences and possibly law.

Maya Ramirez

Fashion Designer

Maya Ramirez is a student attending Toledo School for the Arts. She is a fashion designer and artist, and was recently named winner of Project Runway Junior. During her free time, she also enjoys dancing and acting.

Will Cagle

Aspiring Writer

Will Cagle, senior at Maumee Valley Country Day School, is a voracious reader of fiction and hopes to one day be a voracious producer of the same. He is especially fond of such masters of the craft as Gabriel García Márquez, Kurt Vonnegut, Charles Dickens, J.R.R. Tolkien, and Neil Gaiman. He hopes to attend college next year and work toward a degree in Creative Writing, and continually pursue further knowledge of the art of fiction writing.
