In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amber Liu

Originating from the Philippines and a student of UWCSEA East, Amber is an 11th Grade amateur artist who nurtures her love for art online and features them on various social media platforms, where she has accumulated nearly thirty thousand followers. She sells her artwork online, has collaborated with companies such as Warner Brothers, and has interned in different fashion and media companies. Her work revolves mostly around graphic design and typography, however she loves experimenting with various art styles. In the past three years, she has grown accustomed to the conventions and workings of social media and is slowly but surely learning how to juggle her online presence and the IB life, with her drive to pursue a career as an artist motivating her to do so.

Aram Pan

Aram Pan is a Singapore-based photographer specialising in interior, architectural and 360 degree virtual tour photography since 2007. In 2013, Aram embarked on a project to photograph North Korea, travelling across the country cataloguing everything from the manhole covers of Pyongyang to the rural homes across the countryside. Since then, he has made 11 trips back, and was the first foreigner to clear customs in the new, and second biggest, airport in the communist country in 2015.

Aryan Shanker

What is the importance of fun? This is a question that, though important, we constantly forget due to daily routine. Day by day we are working in different areas trying to do our best; nevertheless it is unclear if we are enjoying or having fun from it. Aryan Shanker shares with us his perspective about the true value of fun through a lens of his personal experiences.

Dana Kurniawan

Having experienced firsthand what it was like to be the only girl in computer science classes, Dana, a grade 10 student at UWCSEA East, has since become an advocate for women in STEM and an individual whose interests and passion for the STEM fields have only been further deepened, fuelled and encouraged. Dana hopes to redefine traditional gender-based roles, expand horizons of opportunities and mindsets and extend her invitation to both men and women to fully support each other, to want to witness, engage and participate in ending gender inequalities, and ultimately - change the dynamics, reshape the conversation.

Ender Jiang

A futuristic storyteller, techno-philosopher, and life explorer, Ender has always been exploring how to create unique storytelling experiences via cutting-edge technologies. During his extensive career in the creative industry, Ender has made short films about urban lifestyle, social challenges, and concepts of future cities. Using various technologies such as augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), Holographic, and mapping projection, he has developed his philosophy behind each technical solution, so as to create meaningful interactions through his professional work and personal experimental projects. Ender is the founder of ifcity.org., an independent project aiming at sharing visions of change-makers from various industries and cultivating collaborative evolution of the cities, and more recently, Hiverlab, a local start-up he founded which focuses on VR storytelling experiences.

Marklin Ang

As a photographer, Marklin Ang enjoys shooting multiple themes of landscapes, ranging from waterscapes to astrophotography. Throughout the course of his career, Marklin Ang was given exposure to capture both interior and exterior architecture. He has also recently grown to the idea of overseas pre-wedding photography. Marklin Ang's works have been featured on multiple platforms, including Lianhe Zaobao, MAD About Singapore Exhibition, Annual Noise Exhibition, yahoo.sg, etc. A Tiny Modernity and also earned itself a mention from Singapore PM Lee Hsien Loong on his personal Facebook Page.

Terence Lyons

As the CEO of The Stakeholder Company, Terence Lyons is pioneering the use of big data intelligence systems to manage complex business issues and opportunities such as fracking in the UK, drilling in the Arctic, mega-projects from Papua New Guinea to Qatar, or market entry into Myanmar or Iran. Terence previously headed Microsoft’s global public affairs strategy, and is admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of New South Wales.

Timothy Ho

Timothy Ho is Co-Founder and Managing Editor of DollarsAndSense.sg, a personal finance website that aims to help people make better financial decisions. He is a big fan of empowering ordinary Singaporeans with the right financial knowledge so that they can make better and more educated decisions for themselves.
