In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ankur Jain

Ankur is Managing Partner at Emergent Ventures, an early stage venture capital firm. Previously, Ankur was a venture investor at Nexus Venture Partners investing in US and India. Prior to that, Ankur was venture investor at Blumberg Capital investing in US and Israel. Ankur has been a board member or observer for over a dozen companies. Ankur also co-founded VAMA, an eco-technology company. Ankur holds a Bachelors in in Computer Science and Engineering from IIT Delhi, a Masters in Computer Science from UCLA, and an MBA in Management from the Wharton School where he graduated as a Palmer Scholar. Ankur is also a co-inventor for five technology patents. Ankur is Chair for TiE (The Indus Entrepreneurs) San Francisco.

Calida Jones

Calida is an accomplished musician, entrepreneur, and educator who is passionate about using music to change the trajectory of children’s lives. She co-founded and is currently the Artistic Director of Bravo Waterbury! (Bravo), an El Sistema inspired education initiative of the Waterbury Symphony Orchestra in Waterbury, Connecticut. Including her work in El Sistema, Calida is one of many national leaders in the work of social change through music. Her work has allowed her to travel to countries such as Venezuela, Brazil, and Hong Kong. She maintains an active performing and lecture schedule. She has spoken multiple times at the prestigious Yale School of Music, The Connecticut State Capitol and the Suzuki Association of the Americas Conference in Minnesota. Calida was nominated for the Grammy Music Educator's Award in 2013, and was recently honored as a recipient of the Father Thomas H. Dwyer Humanitarian award for the City of Waterbury. Calida is currently a board member of Connecticut's Arts Alliance Organization as well as El Sistema USA.

Colber Prosper

Colber Prosper is an Adjunct Professor at the University of the District of Columbia and at the College of St. Joseph. He is the Founder of Prosper & Partners International Consulting Firm, LLC which specializes in professional and organizational development. Recently, Mr. Prosper has written a book titled No Entry: Examining the Powers that Undermine our Full Potential.Colber, truly believes that if we combine our shared powers and potential for good we can create a much better world for all people! Fun Fact: Colber loves to eat and his favorite food is Haitian Food. #DELICIOUSNESS

Eli Wachs

Eli Wachs is a social entrepreneur who started High School HeroesX (HSHX) to provide high school students a platform to effect meaningful change in their communities through crowd-sourced innovation. HSHX has operated challenges from Philadelphia to Beijing, tackling issues such as low high school graduation rates, teen mental health, and food safety. Wachs was one of two high school students selected to attend the inaugural Forbes 30 Under 30 Summit, was one of the leaders of the first ever XPrize Teen Visioneering in 2015, and was the YSA Youth Ambassador for the state of Pennsylvania for 2015-2016. Wachs is also on the board of Next Gen Summit, an annual event hosted by and marketed for young entrepreneurs. He has been featured on NBC, CBS, Huffington Post and Forbes, was named one of Startup Grind's 5 high school entrepreneurs to look out for in 2016, and was one of 14 students to receive the $36,000 Helen Diller Foundation Tikkun Olam award grant for his nonprofit. He currently attends Stanford University.

Purva Gupta

Purva has spent more than 10,000 hours speaking to women regarding their feelings about why they buy the clothes they buy. She learnt that loved brands focus on making an emotional connection with their users during her time at the ad agency Saatchi & Saatchi. In her past life, Purva helped UNICEF structure a venture capital fund to scale life changing technology innovations, took a mobile payments and branchless banking startup to millions of users and evaluated innovative early stage startups at the Khosla Impact Fund. Currently, she is the Founder & CEO of Lily where she is on a mission to help women discover clothes that make them look & feel their best using their emotions & perceptions about their body. Purva is an alum of the Yale Entrepreneurial Institute, has an MBA from Indian School of Business with the Young Leader Award for 2013 and Bachelors in Economics from Shri Ram College of Commerce (India). She aspires to use emotional intelligence and artificial intelligence to understand a woman's psychology to predict what products & services will make her happy.

Victor Luo

Victor Luo is a 17 year old student from Los Angeles, California and is a Junior in High School. Through his ventures, he is committed to providing social good while building his companies. He founded NEAR to provide high school scholarships for underprivileged rural high school students in China. He is the founder and CEO of Bound, a meet up app that encourages punctuality through a monetary incentive, in the summer of 2016. Since then, he has been working tirelessly to grow his company, while networking and forming strategic partnerships.
