Aygun Seker

Student
Aygün Şeker is an Electrical & Electronics Engineering student in Ozyegin University. He is a leader of English Training Society including people who are interested and skilled in giving presentations/public speaking. Aygün is also peer and psychological advisor in the University. He was born and raised in the heart of Tourism Industry and he worked in that field for 5 years.

Aylin Al Saffar

Head of Gastronomy and Culinary Arts Program in Ozyegin University
Dr. A. Aylin Alsaffar obtained her B.Sci. from the Food Engineering Department at Ege University, Turkey in 1996. After that, she continued her studies in the same department and gained her M.Sci. in the Nutrition Division in 1999. She completed her Ph.D. in Food Sciences at Nottingham University, UK in 2005. She received her Post-Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) from Nottingham Trent University, UK in 2007. She worked as a lecturer at Colleges of Higher and Further Education in Staffordshire and Birmingham (UK) between the years 2005-2009. She worked as an Assistant Professor at Nutrition and Dietetics Department at Yeditepe University from September 2009 to May 2012. Her areas of interest are structural and nutritional changes in macromolecules (starch in particular) after food processing, novel food technologies, food chemistry and nutrition education.

Dr. Pınar Menguc

Professor and Head of Mechanical Engineering
Professor Mengüç received his BS and MS from METU in Ankara, and his PhD from Purdue University, USA in 1985, all in Mechanical Engineering. The same year he joined the University of Kentucky (UK), and became a professor in 1993. He was a visiting professor at the Harvard University during 1998-99, and was awarded an Honorary Professorship at ESPOL, Ecuador in 2006. At the end of 2008, he was promoted to Engineering Alumni Association Chair Professor at UK. He holds four patents, and has three patent applications. He is the author of more than 120 articles in international journals, 160 conference papers and the co-author of two books. He has worked with more than 50 MS, PhD and Post-Doc researchers. He joined Ozyegin University in 2009 as the founding Head of Mechanical Engineering. The same year, he established the Centre for Energy, Environment and Economy, which he is still directing. His research areas include radiative transfer, applied optics and sustainable energy applications.

Murat Karademir

Entrepreneur
After getting into Bogaziçi University in 2009, Murat Karademir took a gap year and lived in NYC. During undergrad years, Murat worked in several startups and companies. He is now one of the co-founders of Garaj. Garaj started as a hackerspace near Bogaziçi Universty targeting A class engineers, hustlers and hipsters. It has more than 500 people in its network . After several pivots, Garaj calls itself as a network of learning.

Tina Lino

Instructor, Wine & Beverage
Dr. Tina Lino, after a degree in Agriculture Science received her PhD. degree in Viticulture in University of Palermo. Her passion brought her to go on with a Specialistic Degree in Grape Science and Oenology, from University of Turin in 2008. After working in some wine factories in Italy and Malta in 2013 she came in Turkey working for Vinkara Wines . Her pleasure and passion about wine lead her to Ozyegin University to start teaching as Wine and Beverage Management.

Zeynep Basaran Bundur

Instructor/ Assistant Professor
Dr. Zeynep Başaran received her B.S. degree from Bogazici University in Civil Engineering in 2009, and M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from The University of Texas at Austin in Civil Engineering in 2011 and 2013, respectively. In her doctoral dissertation she worked on influence of biomineralization on cement based materials. Dr. Başaran studies the relationship among processing, chemistry, properties, and performance of cement based materials to gain fundamental knowledge that aids the development of novel, sustainable, and durable construction materials. Her research interest also includes advanced cementitious and mineral building materials (self healing, self cleaning), effect of supplementary cementitious materials and geopolymers.
