In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Amal Daragmeh

Anwar Hamed

is a Palestinian novelist, critic and poet. He began writing early and from the beginning of the 1970s published his first short stories and poetry in the literary pages of Palestinian daily newspapers such as Al-Quds and Al-Fajr. He has an M.A. in literary theory and his novels have been published in Arabic and Hungarian (some were originally written in Hungarian), including Stones of Pain, Scheherazade Tells Tales No More and Of Cracked Bridges and Grounded Birds. He has published dozens of articles of literary criticism. He has lived and worked in London since 2004 and is a member of Bush Writers, the society of writers who have worked for the BBC since it was established, and whose previous members include Tayyeb Saleh and George Orwell.
