Theme: Serendipity

Serendipity stands for a “fortunate happenstance” or “pleasant surprise”. It was coined by Horance Walpole in 1754 and since then this word has been exported into numerous cultures and become the favorite word for many people around the world.
The notion of SERENDIPITY is a common occurrence throughout the history of scientific innovation, such as Alexander Fleming’s accidental discovery of penicillin in 1928, and also in 1968 by the inventor of Post-it-notes, Spencer Silver.
In other words, SERENDIPITY can be a happy accident; a mistake with an unexpected turn; a surprise that leads to success. Innovations presented as examples of serendipity have an important characteristic, they were made by individuals who were able to "see bridges where others saw holes" and connect events creatively, based on the perception of a significant link.
This November at TEDxFuxingPark, we celebrate the mistakes in our lives and chances that we took, even accidents and sad moments. We applaud those who had the sagacity and courage to take that fall, to concur the inevitable, to make that discovery and share their stories with us.

Elise Lammers

Actor, Director, Creative Director of Drama at Enreach Education 演员,导演,英锐国际教育戏剧创新指导

Elise Lammers graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Art in Acting from DePaul University's Theatre School in 2004, and has been working as an actor, director, and drama teacher ever since. Elise performed in plays, musicals, and films in Chicago including Batman Begins, The Dark Knight, and The Lake House (Keanu Reeves, Sandra Bullock). Elise has directed various plays, musicals, improvisation troupes, and charity shows in the US, Brazil, India, and now in China. She has been living and teaching in China for 2.5 years and is now the Creative Director of the drama program at ENREACH Education in Shanghai. Erin McGinley

Erin McGinley performs throughout Shanghai under the stage name Erin FM. She is a stand- up comedian, comedy writer, and voice actor. She is currently studying at the UCLA Writers Program for television comedy writing. For the past six years, by day she is a high school teacher in Shanghai working in international schools and training centers, and currently head of the English Department at an international school in Yangpu. In the final for Miss Universe China, she put on a Chinese style lingerie show entitled“The Beauty of the Far East”, which has been at the forefront of all media coverage. Morry Morgan

Morry is a serial entrepreneur and at the age of only 18 began his first company, Advantage Tuition, which in its height hired 23 fellow university students. His second company, ClarkMorgan Ltd, a B2B corporate training firm, was founded in 2001. Today, ClarkMorgan has been awarded‘Training Firm of the Year’ twice in China, and has offices in Beijing, Shanghai and Melbourne. A graduate of the Social-Educational Initiative Incubator at the Kibbutzim College of Education , Roi Shternin deals with and promotes health and education. He is the founder of the lifesaving Help+ App, which is designed to not only benefit the general public, but also specifically assist the deaf and hearing-impaired call for help. Roi is also co-founder of two lifesaving medical device start-ups, Prolep.si & iDefi. In addition, he also established the “LaBriut!”(“For GoodHealth”) project, and “Hearts” program. After self-diagnosing himself with a rare and untreated syndrome, Roi is helping to empower individuals and communities through mentoring and pro-bono counseling. Roi has embarked on a journey to revolutionized medicine, making healthcare accessible to anyone, anywhere.
