Mukaito Taiko
Mukaito Taiko means “The dream of crossing the ocean”. This name alludes to
the wish of the first Taiko group in Argentina originated in Okinawa. It has been 21 years since they “crossed the ocean” and reencountered Japanese immigrants that had chosen Argentina as their new home.
This music group performed in various cultural events spreading Taiko and their culture. They opened their doors offering classes for beginners and the possibility to form a stable group.
Currently this group is made up of Japanese descendants and Argentines that share an interest for their culture.

Caio Brighenti (@caiobrighenti) was born in the city of São Paulo, in Brazil. However, at the age of 7 he moved to Michigan, in the United States, with his family. It was there he learned how to speak English, and now considers himself fully fluent in it. About 3 years later, he moved back to Brazil, but to the beach city of Santos. After 4 years in Santos, he moved yet again, this time to Buenos Aires, Argentina. He has been there ever since, and it was there he learned to speak Spanish. He considers himself to be fluent in Spanish, but believes his Spanish is not as good as his English or Portuguese.

Living in these two countries, Gabriela noticed overt sexist inequalities between men and women how difficult it was to change the mentality of the people living in these contexts. But when she got the opportunity to do a TEDx talk, she knew that that was her chance to gain people's attention to this current situation that not only happens in Brazil and Argentina, but in the whole world.

Nicholas is originally from Washington DC and has lived there the majority of his life until moving to Buenos Aires in 2012. He is almost bilingual, with just a little bit more Spanish to learn. Being in Argentina has given him the opportunity to be in a new place, culture, and travel around all of Latin America.
