The event consists of speakers from the fields of engineering, medicine and education. As a lot of importance today is being attributed to the Makers movement, we wish to contribute our part to the overall shift in trends towards a more hands-on creative environment. This event thus aims to help people realize this goal.

Andréa Paige

Director, Detox Department at the Yoga Barn in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia
Dr. Andréa Paige is the Director of Detox Department at the Yoga Barn in Ubud, Bali, Indonesia. She works towards empowering people to take their health back into their own hands. Guiding people through transformative fasting retreats in Bali, Andréa spends part of the year leading yoga teacher trainings and teaching Anatomy, Physiology & Health on Training programs worldwide. Raising the bar on health, Andréa teaches in a fun-loving, accessible manner. Dr Paige serves on the Board of Directors for Festival Medical (USA, non-profit) and is a founding member of the Micro-biome Think Tank. She has undertaken advanced studies in: Nutrition, Evolutionary Anthropology, Ethnobotany, Iridology, Colon Hydrotherapy and Yoga Therapy have culminated in a Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine.

Goutham Buchi

Software Developer, Coursera
Goutham Buchi is software developer, currently working with Coursera. He is a member of their Growth team, leading their initiatives in monetization, and new user growth delivering high quality education at scale. Before this he worked at Bloomberg as a Senior Financial Software Developer until 2014. An entrepreneur at the side, he was part of the founding team of 2 startups, and continues to tinker around with iOS and Android. He has completed his B.Tech in Computer Science (with Honours) from IIT Madras in 2007. His speech aims to provide enlightenment on the Indian education and how we might move online.

José Torero

Professor, Fire Safety Engineering at University of Queensland
Dr. José Luis Torero is the head of School of Civil Engineering at the University of Queensland. Prior to this, he held the BRE Trust/RAEng Chair in Fire Safety Engineering at the University of Edinburgh. He is Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering (UK) since 2010, the Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering since 2014 and The Royal Society of Edinburgh (UK) since 2008. Dr. Torero has contributed mainly to the fields of combustion and fire sciences. His research work is in fire dynamics, flame spread, smouldering, combustion in microgravity and professional education in fire safety engineering. Since moving to Edinburgh in 2001 he has developed expertise in the behaviour of structures in fire and the use of combustion to remediate contaminated land. He has been an invited researcher at NIST, at the University of Texas at Austin, the University of California at Berkeley and the University of Bremen.

Nachiket Deval

Bioengineering designer and entrepreneur
Nachiket Deval is the Co-Founder of Coeo Labs where he is trying solve the needs of the Indian healthcare system with specific focus in the field of emergency and critical care products. He is a passionate designer, implementing solutions which can create an impact on countless lives. He is a "logical" dreamer and believes in the importance of creativity in science. Nachiket loves understanding the problems and has a methodic approach for innovations. He graduated from National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, and has designed multiple products for the health and defense sector. He invented multiple medical devices such as a device to reduce pneumonia in patients on ventilators. He has won many national and international awards for his work.

S R Chakravarthy

Professor, Department of Aerospace Engineering, IIT Madras
Dr Chakravarthy is a Professor at the Aerospace Engineering Department of IIT Madras. He completed his B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering from our institute in 1991, following which he pursued an M.S. as well as a Ph.D. at Georgia Institute of Technology. His research areas lie in Combustion and Propulsion, combustion instability, computational combustion, solid propellants and metal (nano-aluminium) combustion. His proximity with projects at ISRO make him the ideal person to present a speech about the advances of Indian space technology.

Umashanker V D

Director, Libralato Pvt Ltd
Mr Umashanker has been associated with the automotive ancillary industry for over 30 years. Widely travelled, he has a good understanding of the Indian auto ancillary market he currently serves on the Board of Libralato Ltd. Manchester UK. He has worked in some of the best known MNCs like BorgWarner Inc and Eaton Corporation, in various leadership positions, and has gained expertise in building a global enterprise in India with some of the best business practices and a worldwide network of associates. He has been responsible for introduction of new technologies in the price sensitive Indian market. He will be speaking about engines, and his talk promises to be revelatory regarding developments in the internal combustion sector.
