In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Lauren Singer

Lauren Singer is a spoken word poet based in Western Massachusetts. With 10 years of experience, she has performed across the country and published three poetry books. She currently judges two poetry contests as well as two book awards for winningwriters.com, and is contending for a spot in the Slam Nationals in Northampton, Massachusetts. Lauren is also a licensed clinical social worker and full-time therapist in Holyoke, MA.

Stephen Glatt

Dr. Stephen Glatt directs the Psychiatric Genetic Epidemiology and Neurobiology Laboratory (PsychGENe Lab) at Upstate Medical University. The PsychGENe Lab works to discover the causes of mental illness and develops interventions that facilitate the treatment, prevention, and resilience to mental illness. Dr. Glatt has authored numerous publications relating to his work, and was the 2013 NARSAD Independent Investigator Grantee as well as the 2010 recipient of the Sidney R. Baer, Jr. Prizewinner for Schizophrenia Research. He is also an associate professor at Upstate Medical University and a director of the National Alliance on Mental Illness.
