In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Mariam Safi

Mariam Safi is the co-founder and Director of the Organization for Policy Research and Development Studies, an independent Kabul based, non-profit research-oriented organization. She is one of the few female researchers and experts from Afghanistan who has contributed widely to the field of peace-building, rule of law and human security offering a grassroots and gender perspective. She has authored several articles and book chapters on South Asian security, politics and economic matters and is a regular contributor to regional and international think-tanks, as well as a regular speaker on track-II forums. She is a member of the Afghanistan-Pakistan Women's Forum, the Consortium of South Asian Think-Tanks and an alumni of the Strategic Studies Network, at the Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies. Her contribution to the field was recognized by Diplomatic Courier which listed her as one of the 100 Top Global Women in 2014.

Zakia Wardak

Zakia Warda, was born in 1965 in Kabul. She holds a master degree in Architecture & post-graduate training in Business Management. she is currently serving as President of the Society of Afghan Women in Engineering and Construction.
