TEDWomen 2015 is a TED event curated by TED and Pat Mitchell that focuses on women and women’s issues. TEDxWomen events are TEDx events hosted around the live webcast of TEDWomen, and may also feature local speakers. Our event is called TEDxStormontWomen and is one of many TEDx events happening around the globe that will expand on the ideas brought up at TEDWomen.

We will have 10 live speakers and stream videos from TEDWomen in Monterey, California.

The event will take place in Stormont Castle on Friday, 29 May from 2pm to 5.30pm followed by the networking reception from 5.30pm to 7pm.

Cathy Martin

Cathy runs CMPR, a PR agency which focuses on consumer and lifestyle PR as well as events and, more recently, Talent management. Her on-the-pulse attitude and creativity helped launch many brands into Ireland. Cathy is perhaps best known for Belfast’s FASHIONWEEK – a multi-award-winning event. She is an ambassador for learning disability charity Mencap and former Chair of the Publicity Association of Northern Ireland 2013/2014. @CathyMartin

Cheryl Meban

Cheryl Reid Meban was born an outsider in Belfast, read Law at QUB, worked with students in France, and is a minister of the Presbyterian Church in Ireland. She serves as Chaplain to Ulster University in Belfast and Jordanstown. @cherylmeban

Cheylene Murphy

Cheylene as toured worldwide with her band Wonder Villains and her songs were published by Polar Patrol Publishing. She is also a founding member of Go Girl, the women's collective developing exciting projects and supporting creative women in Northern Ireland. @CheyleneMurphy

Deirdre Heenan

Professor Deirdre Heenan is Ulster University Pro-Vice-Chancellor of Communication and Provost of Coleraine and Magee campuses. She is a member of the Council of State and was on the Expert Panel of 2011 Healthcare Review – Transforming Your Care. @deirdreheenan

Elizabeth Welty

Dr Elizabeth Welty BS, MA, PhD has been working in peace AND conflict studies, capacity building, education, yoga and mindfulness for the past 18 years. She has opened two yoga studios in Belfast founded on an ethos of welcome, inclusivity and transformation. Elizabeth lectures at Queen’s University on Local and Global Citizenship, teaches yoga and delivers capacity building programmes to students from around the world.

Emma Pengelly

Emma Pengelly is Special Adviser to the First Minister of Northern Ireland. She worked as a Barrister before becoming a Special Adviser in 2007. Her key interests are in impact based policy, project design and innovation particularly in the sphere of social policy. Her work consists mainly of policy design, delivery and negotiation.

Heather McCormick

Heather McCormick works in sales and marketing for Accenture. She is a board member of the Washington Ireland Program for service and leadership, and Dress for Success London, a women's employment charity. She is an active member and trustee of St Dionis Church, Parsons Green. She cares deeply about justice, equality, leadership development and empowering women. @heyahev

Katie Richardson

Katie Richardson is a musician, composer, musical director, actress and facilitator. Katie has performed with many bands: her own, Katie and the Carnival and now Goldie Fawn having shared a stage with Van Morrison, Foy Vance, Duke Special and the likes. She writes music for theatre, film and arts projects throughout Ireland. @iamgoldiefawn

Orlaith Hendron

Orlaith Hendron is a political and social activist, a poet, a wanderer and a strong advocate for women. She has been fighting for LGBTQ and women's rights for the past decade both locally and internationally. When she's not giving speeches at rallies she's chaining herself to railings and shouting at the top of her lungs in one-woman-protest. @orlaith_hendron

Paula Hilman

Paula Hilman Superintendent Paula Hilman MBE has nearly 30 years’ service with the Royal Ulster Constabulary George Cross and the Police Service of Northern Ireland. She is currently the Deputy District Commander in Belfast City District Command Unit. Paula is also the Hate Crime Tactical Lead for PSNI and a Public Order Commander and Tactical Firearms Commander.
