In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ajay Rajani

Entrepreneur
Ajay Rajani is an entrepreneur, investor and aspiring merchant of progress. He's been an early executive and led product & growth at breakout companies like Grovo Learning & Inventure. His seed investments include Compology, Okhi, Knewton, Grovo & Inventure, where he's co-invested with and helped raise over $100 million from leading venture firms like Accel Partners, Google Ventures & Lowercase Capital. These days, Ajay is focused on building the Inevitable Collective, a seed-stage fund he founded to build and invest in companies that push the world forward. Ajay is a proud graduate of Wesleyan University (B.A) and the NYU School of Law (J.D.).

Alex Trautwig

Photographer
Having picked up a camera for the first time at the age of eleven, Alex Trautwig, Class of 2008, was hooked. Photography became his focus during his time at both Friends Academy and Boston College, where he honed his skills shooting a variety of subjects. After graduating from BC in 2012, he worked as a freelance photographer and photo editor with clients including The New York Times and Sports Illustrated. Over time, his focus became sports. In 2013, he was hired by Getty Images, the world's largest distributor of imagery, to photograph and edit major events. After two years, Alex left Getty Images to join Major League Baseball as the only staff photographer, providing imagery to support a wide range of league initiatives and publications.

Alex Yip

Engineer
Alexander S. Yip, Class of 1997, went on to earn a B.S., M.Eng, and Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the field of Computer Science. After graduating, Alexander moved to California to work as a software engineer, with stints at Google, Nicira Networks, and VMware. While at MIT, Alexander spent some of his spare time working on technology projects for the developing world, including a peanut shelling machine, manufacturing improvements for bicimaquinas, and the Bicilavadora, the topic of this presentation.

Lucky Gobindram

Lucky Lance K Gobindram, Class of 2004, is an innovation driven technology executive with experience in full-life cycle product development, P&L management, strategy, and team building. Lucky serves as Co Founder + President of OAB Studios a NYC based Digital Innovation Lab that is determined on designing and building experiences (Web, Mobile, TV, wearable + Augmented Reality application) that work well with ease of use, utilizing cutting edge techniques in design, user experience and engineering. Lucky and his team @ OAB have a track record of designing and deploying emerging technologies into commercial successes across diverse platforms in StartUps, entrepreneurial, corporate, and hospitality environments. Lucky was nominated for the 2011 Outstanding 50 Asian Americans in Business -Asian American Business Development Center.

Susan Banta

Community Development Consultant
Susan Johnson Banta, Class of 1972, spent the bulk of her professional career as a Senior Vice President Creative Director with Ogilvy and Mather, an international advertising agency in New York before retiring and moving to California to start a family. After twenty years in the professional world, she spent the next twenty years serving as a volunteer on many community boards. In 1998 she created her own nonprofit, Alphabet Soup, a family cooking program that has all the ingredients to raise a generation of peace. Susan splits her time between the San Francisco Bay Area and Martha's Vineyard, where she summers with her husband and four children.

Victoria Bjorklund

Law Professor
Victoria Bjorklund, Class of 1970, is a charities lawyer who founded, and for 30 years, headed the Exempt Organizations Group at the Simpson Thacher law firm. She earned her BA at Princeton, a Ph.D. at Yale Graduate School, her law degree at Columbia Law School, and she teaches “The Law of Nonprofits” at Harvard Law School.
