TEDxWarwick is pleased to announce its first Salon event this academic year: ‘Workings of the Mind’.

This free event will feature 3 speakers followed by an interactive panel discussion. It serves to expose the hidden connections between function and purpose, brain and mind & desires and rationality. In short, it is about us, humans – our interactions and our individuality. Accessible to all, it will encompass ground-breaking scientific research informed by everyday experience.

We hope you will join us for a healthy dose of inspiration, knowledge and lively debate.

Anthony Seldon

Sir Anthony Seldon, Vice-Chancellor of The University of Buckingham, is a leading contemporary historian, educationalist, commentator and political author. He was Master of Wellington College, one of Britain's leading independent schools, until 2015. He is author or editor of over 40 books on contemporary history, politics and education, was the co-founder and first director of the Centre for Contemporary British History, is co-founder of Action for Happiness, and is honorary historical adviser to 10 Downing Street.

Robert Lefever

Dr Robert Lefever founded the first NHS group practice in the South Kensington area, one of the first private diagnostic centres in London and possibly the first rehab in the world to treat all addictions non-medicinally. He is regarded as the pioneer of modern addiction treatment methods in rehab centres in the UK. In the last 26 years he has worked with thousands of inpatients suffering from various forms of addictive and compulsive behaviour as well as stress and depression.

Susan Aldworth

Susan Aldworth is an artist interested in questions of human identity. She is an experimental printmaker and filmmaker referencing philosophy, medicine, and neuroscience in her work. Through her investigations into consciousness, dementia, schizophrenia, sleep and epilepsy, Aldworth has developed a particular interest in expanding notions of contemporary portraiture. Aldworth has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally and her work is held in many public and permanent collections including the V&A, British Museum, Fitzwilliam Museum and Wellcome Collection.
