The idea around the theme ‘The Perfect World’ is how we as individuals would like to see the world and how we see our ideal selves. We want people to be inspired, make them think and take an action for positive developments. We want to bring together bright minds and provoke conversations that matter. We want to find out what is the perfect world according to you!

Albert Kooy

Introducing Albert Kooy, Chef, author of ‘The New Dutch Cuisine” 2006, with his talk “Is ‘healthy food’ healthy?” After writing his first book, he got a lot of questions what is actually The new Dutch Cuisine. He realized that people do not have an idea of what they eat and what Dutch cuisine is. People see products that are labelled healthy and do not even look at the actual content. That is how he developed his 5 principles of good food. This 5 principles are going to be published in a small hand book “Stenden Food” this year. We all want to be healthy so let’s start with the right food.

Amina Al Maawali

Let us introduce you our next speaker. Amina Al Maawali is a second year student at Stenden University Leeuwarden. She came from Oman, Muscat. Amina is a very humanitarian person, she volunteered many times in different countries in Africa such as Tanzania, she volunteered as a teacher and helped the orphan children with cleaning, cooking, studying and everything they had to do on their own. This young enthusiastic girl love to travel and discover, meet different cultures learn their languages and believes and most of all she is a strong independent woman who was brought up by a powerful individual who inspired her to do this talk, her Mum.

Arjan Postma

Arjan Postma is a nature enthusiast, park ranger and great writer as well as regular guest at De Wereld Draait Door. He is also known in the natural course program on RTV Noord-Holland Arjan Postma studied history but soon found out that he actually preferred to be outside. Arjan Postma has quickly won the hearts of nature-loving Netherlands. “Every day I have to work the incredible privilege of nature and to enjoy every day of all the beauty it has to offer our province. In short, I work with my hands, my head and my heart.” Arjan Postma

Danielle Terpstra

Danielle Terpstra will make you move and think about your life and your health. This young enthusiastic girl would perform and speak at TEDxStendenUniversity 2015 to convince people to get a healthy lifestyle and care about their health. “I take every opportunity to speak to people and explain how to get fit and healthy so we will live happy, healthy and longer all together!” Danielle.

Dirk Dijk

Let us introduce to you our speaker, Dirk Dijk, with his talk “ War Against Poverty”. He studied business economics in Groningen and have a post graduate degree as a chartered financial analyst (CFA). Since 4 1/2 years Dirk is a lecturer at Stenden. Before that he was an investment advisor at Rabobank, ING Bank and ABN AMRO. His task was making rich people richer. For the next decades Dirk see his mission as to make poor people richer in development countries. He believes that this is possible via entrepreneurship and innovation. Dirk is a lecturer at Leisure Management & International Hospitality Management specialised in Business Economics & Entrepreneurship. When he stopped in 2010 at Rabobank, he did voluntary work in Haiti right after the earthquake for 3 months. This has changed his life and perception. That is his connection with Wold Hunger problem.

We are happy to announce our international speaker from Finland. He believes that these ideas work for everyone who was born naked.

Maria Koijk

‘If we go on producing waste, will Mother Earth yield plastics instead of fertile soil in the end?’ This is the question that haunts Maria Koijck, designer at Bas-is and autonomous artist. Since her trip to Sierra Leone with development organization Save the Children, where she walked through the slum area, she has not been able to shake off these images. Now she is dedicating herself to increasing people’s awareness about street litter and its consequences for the earth and its inhabitants.

Samantha Trinidad

Samantha Trinidad was born and raised in Aruba. In august 2014 she graduated nursing school and came to the Netherlands to continue her study of bachelor in nursing. Besides nursing Samantha is obsessed with poetic performances. She used to write short poems just for fun, but it was in 2009 that she took it to “the next level”. There was a literature competition that she attended and since then she was always one of the participants who would stand out. This literature competition opened many doors for her. Samantha was requested at public cultural activities, at tourist attractions, at private parties and also as emcee at different events. Last year she managed to win another art competition and it was the first time that a poet won first price. The last two years she was requested to play in a big play about influences among the youth; she played the lead voice. Besides that Samantha was a volunteer actress in different tv- programs and plays.

Shekib Omran

Meet our next speaker Shekib Omran, with his talk “Facing the storm”. He is a second year student of Social Work at Stenden University. Next to his study he volunteer at a Humanitas project where he support families that are in crisis, he also guide people on their Vision Quest wilderness experience in the summer. Currently he involved into the process with others to create an eco based community in Spain, where he also working to facilitate personal and group transformational programs. He believes that we can and this is an invitation to connect with others as we take ownership of our power and create a better world.
