In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ben Warner
Ben Warner is the President & CEO of Jacksonville Community Council Inc. (JCCI). The model that JCCI uses invites the community to discuss a topic with subject matter experts resulting in months of study aimed at finding real solutions that work, he said. It’s a model that’s gained international attention for JCCI, which has fine tuned its approach since 1975. Germany’s chancellor, Angela Merkel, invited Warner to speak before the G8 about the way JCCI implements change through involvement of the community.
