Theme: Essence

Now in the modern society that bombard with excessive information, people blindly chase too much vanity but frail wealth. The essence of Taiwan’s land is gradually forgotten by people.

However, in National Chung Hsing University, this kind of belief is also forgotten by people gradually, but it still remain. Some people would say those who with this belief couldn’t have enough ability to compete with others, but we strongly believe that people with this spirit could have new chance to find the real characteristic and value of Taiwan, and start from the essence to explore more possibilities.

Therefore, we choose the word “Essence” as our theme. We expect ourselves to lead people in our university to go back their origin, and restart to chase bravely what they really want.

江心靜，抱雲齋人文藝術空間創辦人，是位熱愛旅行的文學家。著有『Vicky & Pinky單車環球夢』、『亞洲慢慢來:日本沖繩和九洲』、『歐洲光之旅』…等書，並獲得大量迴響。近兩年更得到了水墨畫大師劉國松的影響轉入水墨畫界，她的作品獲得了很大的肯定，並於今年五月受邀參加台北新藝術博覽會。 Pinky Chiang, the founder of Bao Yun Zhai Gallery. She is a litterateur who loving travelling. Her famous work「Vicky &Pinky bike travel around the world」 were sold very well. In the recent two years, Pinky Chiang was directed by Taiwan’s famous ink painter Liu Guo Song, so she turned in to the field of art. Her works were chosen and be invited to attend Art Revolution Taipei which is an international art exhibition.

Jui-Pi Su

There are many great architects and magnificent architectures, but we are always lacking of good cities, cities which can respect and try to reserve historical sites, learn to rebuild old places, and innovate them. During the time he lived in Japan, Su Jui-pi observed the way how Japanese bond each other with the community and the land, and how they organize events or implement policies to make the old town thrive again. After returning to Taichung, he leads a group of students, trying to innovate the old downtown, which have one of the highest vacancy rate in the world. In 2012 Su Jui-pi founded Downtown Recreative Fondation, which works with the government, residents, students, and volunteers. Trying to hold more activities to attract people to visit this historic place, and create more opportunities and spaces for young people to be willing to start their business in the old downtown.
