In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Joan Blakey

Dr. Blakey’s primary research interests include trauma and substance abuse among women who are involved with the child protection and criminal justice systems. She also is interested in understanding the process of healing from trauma, creating trauma informed systems of care, and testing the effectiveness of trauma informed interventions.

Sam White

Dr. White focuses on issues in public policy, economic development, education, and housing. He has specific interests in job creation and education in central cities. He teaches courses in "Public Policy Analysis" and "Housing Markets and Public Policy." Dr. White has authored or co-authored over 160 articles and reports and co-authored or co-edited six books.
