Sliding Doors: Defining moments, cross roads and decision making

On Thursday the 2nd of July focus is on the intentional and un-intentional choices we face and the effect these choices can have on our lives. The choices you make, both the one’s you make knowing that they will change your life, as well as the choices you make un-intentionally that still has life defining effects. Life is unpredictable and this year we want to explore this unpredictability!

Alexandra Charles

Alexandra Charles is a PR-consultant and founder of the 1,6 million club initiative and the 2,6 million club initiative that promotes women’s health and life joy. She has been an ambassador for the Star for Life organization that raises awareness about HIV and AIDS to youths in underprivileged areas of South Africa and Namibia. In 2005 she was named Swedish opinion-maker of the year. Charles is known for starting Sweden’s first night club back in 1968, called Alexandra’s.

David Batstone

David Batstone is co-founder and president of global anti-slavery organization Not For Sale, and co-founder and managing partner of Just Business, an international investment group that incubates social enterprises. He is currently a business professor at the University of San Francisco, and was previously an investment banker in the technology industry. David has authored five books, is the recipient of two national journalist awards, and was named National Endowment for the Humanities Chair at the University of San Francisco for his work in technology and ethics.

Johar Bendjelloul

The journalist and tv- and radio host Johar Bendjelloul started to work for Swedish National Television in 1996 where he through the years led the popular show’s Kulturnyheterna and Gomorron Sverige. Today he’s working for Swedish National Radio as the host for P1 Morgon. Last year he was named Stylist of the Year by the magazine Journalisten. He was awarded the prize for with small nuances and tone of voice and with precision and objectivity mediate a feeling of commitment and interest.

Madeleine Opira

Madeleine Opira is the author of the book "Generation Integration" and co-author of the Anthologies "Formation Journey" published by Bertil Ohlin Institute and "Not a Stranger" published by Teskedsorden. Madeleine has a degree in LLB Law with French Law and Language, Leicester University in 2007. She was named one of Sweden's future most powerful people in 2015 under the category of alternative opinion leaders by trade union TCO. She has been appointed by ShortCut as one of the up and coming opinion leaders in the years 2011, 2013 & 2014. Madeleine is the founder of the think tank A Million Minds working to gain broader context of the ghetto suburbs and to enable the potential that is hidden there through social media campaigns such as #Förortenimedia, an Instagram campaign that challenges the media's image of the suburbs and provides a platform and the opportunity to the people in the suburbs to highlight and portrait their picture of the suburbs.

Mohamed Gohar

Mohamed Gohar is an Egyptian architect and researcher who is known for documenting the architectural and cultural heritage of Alexandria. The project “Description of Alexandria” was started to raise the awareness of the threats that is posed to the city by rapid and unplanned urban development. Through sketches, the true image of Alexandria and its historical heritage is documented to direct the attention from the general public and decision makers to the city’s conservation and preservation need.

Ziggi Källoff

Ziggi Källoff is an artist and performer who is constantly challenging the norm. Her art stretches boundaries and questions the view on sexuality and gender. On stage, she performs in monster drag shows as her alter egos, called Ziggi Källoff and WLLPWR. Except working with stage and video art she writes about cyborgs, fan girls and beauty practices.
