In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Anett Zlotorzycki

Student
Anett never grew out of her sense of wonder. She graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with degrees in Environmental Studies and Geography. She believes in the positive transformative powers food justice and sustainability has on the self, community, and environment.

Fahimeh Mehrabkhani

Student
Fahimeh Mehrabkhani is a passionate Music Education student at NEIU. She earned her Associate degree in Music from Baha'i Institute for Higher Education or "BIHE" for short in Iran. She is a strong advocate of human rights for all people around the globe.

Frederick Prete

Professor
Frederick Prete has a PhD in Biological Psychology from The University of Chicago, and is currently an Instructor in the Biology Department at NEIU. He has taught courses such as History of Learning Theory, Biology of Learning, Brain and Behavior, Neurobiology, and Physiology. His current research interests are in the neurobiology of vision, and teaching in the STEM disciplines.

Nikki Nigl

Nikki Nigl (rhymes with eagle) has lived coast to coast, drawing inspHERation from the women she has convHERsations with. Possessed by her Midwest sensibility, West Coast calm, and East Coast edge. Nikki received her Bachelors and Master’s Degree from Northeastern Illinois University in Human Resource Development in 2012 and Communications, Media, & Theatre in 2014.

Sarah Vaid

NEIU Alumna
Sarah Vaid is a seeker of knowledge and wisdom. She is continuously pursuing tools and techniques to attain a more fulfilling life experience and is passionate about sharing what she learns with others. She completed her undergraduate degree in English and Psychology at Northeastern Illinois University and is currently working on her Master's in English Literature also at Northeastern Illinois University. Her research interests include identity formation, women's psychology and mental health.
