Since we felt that youth needed an outlet to share their amazing ideas, we started TEDxShuksanMiddleSchool. At our event, we had a combination of live speakers and TED talks that inspired the audience to be the change in the world.

Adrianna Svitak

Adrianna has been playing piano for 14 years, and violin for 13. She is currently attending Manhattan School of Music and majoring in Classical piano, while still performing/taking classes in violin. Over the years, She has performed at a number of TEDx events, and particularly enjoys creating multimedia pieces inspired by the theme of each event. She published a poetry book with my sister, Adora, and writing poetry remains one of her great passions.

Asia is a freshman in highschool, She is 14, and used to be extremely depressed. She had low self esteem and was always trying to be something that wasn't her. She became very depressed when she realized she didn't want to put the mask on anymore. She started online schooling and started to find herself and who she was. She is happy again, and most of all she learned that no matter what happened in the past or what will in the future, all we have is now. Live in this moment, nothing else matters except for now. That is the key to happiness.

Emily Little

Emily has played the cello for five years and is advocating for strong music programs in public schools. She discusses the benefits of music as part of an overall education experience.

Ian is a sixth grader at Whatcom Middle School in Bellingham Washington. When Ian found out his favorite teacher has breast cancer he wanted to do something. But what could a sixth grade boy do to make a difference? The result will touch your heart.

Idell Drive Idell Drive

Idell Drive is a teen rock band from Bellingham, Washington, and formed due to a common love for making music. They are inspired by bands like Rush, AC/DC, and Alice Cooper. Idell Drive, made up of members Alex Golombek, Zach Cowin, Marcus Benson, and Quinn deKubber, formed in the summer of 2014. All of the members currently attend Squallicum High School in Bellingham.

Karol is in 8th grade and a very hardworking student. Along with getting top grades and doing very well in school, She also loves running and cross country. She loves everything about school and learning, and her favorite subject is math. She is currently 2 years ahead in math and loves every minute of it. She notices people mentioning how they hate math and how they will never use it and it's pointless learning it, so she l explains the beauty of math and how important it is to people across the globe. She would love to give people a new perspective on math and share her love of math with everyone.

Nicholas Vulic

Nicholas grew up a feminist and remains an outspoken activist for women's, gay, transgender and nonbinary, racial, disabled and other civil rights. He can be found advocating online or around his town, and he is a huge video game and design geek. He organized a series of protests against the gender pay imbalance and gender inequality in general. He helping to change the world in the small scale by bringing awareness to the issues at hand, primarily civil rights with emphasis on gender and non binary equality.

Vincent is a Bellingham High School senior with a passion for creating music. He is a part of a local band, Sweet Invicta, that has been together for 5 years.

Wade King Students Students

These are four fifth grade students currently attending Wade King Elementary School in Bellingham, Washington named Ella Aven, Jacob Brown, Lucas Gaston, and Kai Ocheltree. Wade King is an international bachelorette school based on the primary years program specifically related to students learning through inquiry. These four students have succeeded in gaining the attributes necessary to collaborate on group projects. Although each of them have our own outside activities, they all share a common goal of helping others. They started their mission of discovering everything they could about Lyme disease as part of their fifth grade Exhibition project. The more they learned, the more they wanted to take action to help others. Thus, they combined efforts and put together a fun run at which they collected donations that they gave to the Lyme Light Foundation. Together, they all want to make the world a better place through individual dedication and collaborative contributions to society.
