This TEDx event is about sharing new, innovative, and exciting ideas with the greater Milken Community Schools' family. With presenters that include high school and middle school students, a parent and alumni this even will showcase all that is buzzing around our school culture. From trusting your gut to understanding the vibrant subculture of cosplay the event will be sure to showcase a little something for everyone in attendance.

Ben Maddahi

Milken alumnus Ben Maddahi began his career in the music industry as an intern and has since expanded to a many facets of the music publishing industry. He is the current President of Artist Publishing Group, and Vice-President of A&R for Artist Partners/Warner Music Group. Ben has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and is listed on Billboard Magazine's "30 under 30" list of notable music executives under the age of 30.

Gordon Myers

Milken alumni parent Gordon Myers originally came to the United States from Namibia with nothing more than a backpack. Since then, he has become an accomplished author, actor, entrepreneur, teacher, and father. Gordon is a veteran of the game of life and holds a strong desire to share his own lessons with children. He has focused his work on challenging issues that our youth face due to a lack of self-confidence and peer-pressure. His book Street Smart Kids--Common Sense for the Real World is a must read.

Kyle Newman

Milken eighth grader Kyle Newman constantly follows his muse: reveling in the process of discovery and learning. This led him to the saxophone, which he has played since elementary school. Kyle is a member of both the upper school Jazz Band and the Milken Knights robotics team. He is currently competing in the LA County Science Fair.

Liberty Fuchs

Milken junior Liberty Fuchs also goes by her pen name Liberty Townsley. She is a self-described "starving actress," aspiring YouTuber, and lover of science fiction and fantasy. She spends her free time taking part in the art of glorified dress-up and role-play at comic conventions.

Mia Suissa

Milken senior Mia Suissa describes herself as "normal," although she hasn't found comfort in societal norms. As a result, she has created her own set of norms that value difference and diversity and define her as a person. She practices the mantra of being present daily and focuses her energies on the "norm" that begins and ends with love. Mia lives life in positivity and is very proud to be who she is.

Natalie Pashaie

Milken junior Natalie Pashaie is passionate about almost all things creative. Her interests include art, journalism, music, dance, film, and creative writing. More recently, she has developed a passion for raising awareness about world-wide issues such as the modern-day human trafficking industry.

Saphira Howell

Milken junior Saphira Howell creates multiple videos each week for her YouTube channel, "SaphiraFashion." Since 2010, more than 80,000 subscribers have watched her videos on teen topics ranging from bullying and depression to confidence, peer pressure, and more. Saphira's honest spirit and positive attitude contribute greatly to the success of "SaphiraFashion."
