Theme: Footprints

As we establish our footing as an organization on KU's campus this year, our theme centers around the impact that we have on our world, our community and in the lives of others. We, as human beings, have footprints that wash away, and footprints that are long lasting. We have footprints that we are painfully aware of, and ones that we can hardly imagine.
The more we are cognizant of the impact we have in the world around us, the greater we can answer T.S. Eliot's eternal question, "do I dare disturb the Universe?"

TEDxKU is a diverse, student-led initiative, with members from all over KU's campus. We believe in the power of ideas and discourse. We believe in building a platform for our peers and community members that may not otherwise have one, so that they too can share their ideas worth spreading.

Don Wagner

Don is a poet, an organic farmer, and an English teacher. He grew up in rural Kansas and developed a deep love for the land and the agriculture in an ecosystem "as diverse as the rain forest." Don has been an inspiration to many young minds and continues to be a lover of ideas big and small.

Elizabeth Finn

As a volunteer at the local domestic violence shelter, Elizabeth Finn noticed a big gap: they didn't have any services for victims of human trafficking. Now as a staff member, Elizabeth works as the founder and director of human trafficking prevention. She has worked with many survivors in the local community and works to connect them to resources and to help them escape the snare of this underground industry.

Jameelah Jones

As a graduate student at the University of Kansas, Jameelah Jones worked as the first Director of Diversity and Inclusion for Student Senate. Jameelah, a life-long advocate for social justice, works with groups within campus and all across the country to foster inclusion and to advocate for equality.

Schuyler Krauss

As the founder and president of Student for a Sustainable Future, Schuyler Krauss has fought for sustainability in both environmental and social contexts. Schuyler has been at the center of the national media attention around a duplicitous donation by the Koch Brothers to the University of Kansas. The day after President Obama visited campus, Rachel Maddow personally mentioned Schuyler and spent a whole segment of her show detailing the issue she was fighting.
