In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Frederick Chen

Mr. Frederick Jon Chen had, in London, bought a Rolleiflex 3.5F camera from a 60-year-old Greek on account that he continued making stories with it as it had for 40 years. Since then, he has endeavoured to make sense of his curiosities through his camera. Frederick had first became acquainted with Photohoku in June 2012 and is Photohoku’s ambassador in Singapore. The project was, to him, a marriage of his photographic inclinations and a desire to engage disaster-stricken communities. In March 2013, Photohoku 22 was conducted in Onagawa and Ishinomaki, Japan, where he helped to restart family albums for two Izushima communities. Today, he is involved in Photohoku 2.0: the push for Photohoku to go beyond serving disaster-stricken communities and to create positive impacts globally. When he is not making pictures, Frederick can be found eating kaya toast with eggs at 58 Lengkok Bahru, running vertical marathons and planning his next trip out of sunny Singapore!
