TEDxDistilleryDistrictWomen 2015 will explore bold ideas that create momentum in how we think, live and work today on a global and local scale. Our one-day conference will bring together a diverse and passionate audience of women and men, all looking to share a transformative experience. TEDxDistilleryDistrictWomen hopes to amplify these ideas and inspire other women in Toronto to further their pursuit in building momentum.

Anita Li

Anita is an editor at Mashable, and founder of The Other Wave, a website that explores film and television from a diverse perspective. She navigates the evolving landscape of digital journalism by brainstorming creative ways to cover news online

Basma Hameed

Basma strives to raise awareness of the procedures available to enhance and camouflage any type of skin condition treatable, to aid in a confident sense of wellness. Her topic will be "Making Paramedical Micropigmentation a Recognized Medical Procedure."

Brenda Gallie

Dr. Brenda Gallie is a world-renowned ophthalmologist who has championed groundbreaking research on the genetics of retinoblastoma, a rare cancer of children's eyes. Based on her research, Brenda has been named a Member of the Order of Canada

Britta B

Britta is a spoken word poet, keynote speaker and artist educator. She has captivated audiences across Canada both in competitive and feature performances. She has also showcased in New York City, Detroit and New Orleans, and has been casted a lead role in the play The Journey: A Living History of Regent Park.

Carla Catherwood

Carla has been a professional in the dance industry for over 20 years. She has worked not only as a professional dancer, choreographer and producer, but most importantly as an entrepreneur, teacher and mentor to many developing up-and-coming dance students.

Emily Wright

After overcoming addiction and homelessness, Emily uses her personal story of resiliency as a way of confronting stigma and dismantling injustice. She is a devoted advocate to causes related to bullying, mental health, and child care.

Jaeny Baik

Jaeny transforms entrepreneurs from 'zero to hero' on video. For a decade, she crafted stories as a TV host / reporter for the CBC. After hosting Living Vancouver, viewership shot up nearly 50%
