In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Aislinn Slaugenhaupt

An eternal Steelers fan and diehard Primanti Bros. enthusiast, Aislinn Slaugenhaupt is a socioenvironmentalist, Jane Goodall Institute Roots & Shoots National Youth Leader, United States Green School Fellow, and high school junior. She is a Cornell and Brown alum, a team member at Greening Forward, the fastest-growing youth-driven environmental organization in the country, a nonprofit music teacher, international student mentor with the Montessori Model United Nations, student guest editor for the Carnegie Council’s Global Ethics Network, equality advocate, and nationwide lecturer and speaker who has traveled the country to share her story and her message, most recently to Washington, D.C. to deliver an address at the Global Ethics Network’s North American Conference.

Alexis Werner

Alexis is a freshman at Temple University studying International Business. She is passionate about social justice and changing the world. When she was 15 her stepfather came home with severe Post Traumatic Stress, and with the help of her mentor Gregg Dietz, she started a non-profit organization called Seeds of Hope. Through her organization she has worked on behalf of veterans and their families struggling with poverty and Post Traumatic Stress for the past five years.

Catherine Zhang

Catherine Zhang is a senior at North Allegheny Senior High School and currently serves as her school’s National Honor Society President and Interact Club President. Through these activities and volunteering in her local community, she is able to express her love for service. Catherine also enjoys playing tennis and piano, and she is actively involved with the speech and debate team and student government. Ms. Zhang plans on attending Harvard University next fall.

Kara Ainsworth

Kara is passionate about the social justice group that she works with through her school, the Youth Advocacy League. Some of the projects she has participated in was a Cultural Jam with Ellis School and she is currently planning a Cultural Identity Summit for creating ongoing change in our community.
