The theme for TEDxSouthwesternUniveristy is The Pale Blue Dot by Dr. Carl Sagan. The talks will emphasize on the importance of great innovations and inventions that shaped our tiny blue planet viewed from the vastness of space.

Jossy Onwude

The Dream Chaser
Mr. Onwude is a graduate of BS Biological sciences from Southwestern University and currently a Medical intern. He is a known serial entrepreneur who have founded unli.fm and currently the founder of Medifund, Admitted.ly, and co-founder of a US-based company Gemican. When he is not busy trying to become a good doctor, he is into sports and coming up with ideas that he hopes will someday change the world.

Justine Balane

The Equalist
Justine Balane is a Gender Rights and Education activist. He believes that gender equality is an issue that affects all people. Throughout his journey, he organized the first HeForShe campaign in the Philippines. Aside from being a student activist, he is also the current Chairperson of the Student Council in UP Cebu. His goal is to engage men and boys as agents of change for the achievement of women's rights and gender sensitivity.

Karl Archuleta

The Activist
Mr. Karl Archuleta has a mouth as sharp as a sword. He was twice the best rebutallist in the Philosophy Debate Team in two consecutive years in the USC Intra-CAS debate event. He is also a student activist and believes change is possible through collective action. While not busy with his hobby, he is currently a full-time faculty in the Department Of Social And Behavioral Sciences in the School Of Arts And Sciences

Matthew Basabe

The Idealist
Mr. Ramon Matthew "Matt" Basabe is everywhere where the youth belongs. He is a nurse in profession but an Events and Marketing guru by heart. This awardee of the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines (TOSP) is driven, both, by mind and by heart. He is the founder and Chief Executive director of HyperCebu, a massive event that does not only benefit the youth through mentorship but also aid his fellow Cebuanos in need.

Rex Villavelez

The Explorer
Mr. Villavelez is an environmentalist and a licensed divemaster. He loves the ocean and takes pride on how beautiful and haunting it could be. He is also an underwater photographer and travels to the deep beyond to take photos. He is also awardee of the Ten Accomplished Youth Organizations (TAYO) and a community organizer for Youth Welfare. He believes that instilling wisdom and environmental awareness to the youth is the key for a brighter future.

Salvador Odilao

The Philosopher
Mr. Salvador Odilao Jr. believes that anyone has an idea to share, regardless if you are famous or not. He is a Cebu City Government employee with a degree on Communications & Marekting from USJ-R. Learning about Science & Scripture is both a passion and a hobby. His goal is for everyone to be interested in true science and scripture as he believes that in knowing them comes true knowledge and wisdom for life.
