We’re working on TEDxAnjo as a continuous community to achieve this goal. Understanding TEDx event as a widespread platform of unique community, we hope to bring “ideas worth spreading” which people never notice in here, but also send our original “ideas worth spreading” from to the world.

Anjo West Jr. High School Mikawa Manzai Club

Anjo-Nishi junior high school / student
In the original form of Manzai, it was not performed as entertainment but as a ritual for driving away demons and calling in good fortune at the beginning of the new year. Mikawa-Manzai was granted the privilege of being performed at the Shogun’s Palace on the occasion of the New year. Mikawa-Goten-Manzai is a type of Manzai that started to be preformed from the Meiji Era. It’s devised so that it may be danced splendidly on the stage. Anjo West Jr. High school is the only Jr. high school having the Mikawa-Manzai Club in Anjo city. This year is the 19th year since the club started. Mikawa-Manzai Club is not a mandatory club activity. It is a voluntary one. Therefore, all members join regular club activities, too.

Ayako Nomura

Sign language interpreter She wishes to have the flat society - even the person with hearing difficulty can live and move into action without any problem. She works on spreading the sign-language to the society, and encourage people with hearing difficulty to participate into social activities with equal viewpoint. The society people with hearing difficulty can notice how they actually support the community, and find the way to contribute wit the community, and live lively happily - that is she aiming to.

Hajime Torii

80 years old. Anjo citizen. Local inventor
80 years old born in 1935. Inventor Since child time, his interest for woodwork or metalwork processing was not simple. He was a child who went alone to factory to stare carpenter or smith work. In junior high school time, he was charmed by the fact how “iron sharpens iron” with the turning lathe machine, and dreaming to be a lathe machine operator in future. Just after graduated, he joined Makita Electric Tool Co., and acquired study as a lathe machine operator. He experienced pleasure and strictness about manufacturing for 45 years. After retired, he successively held a public hall director, a chairperson in the town block, a representative of local disaster prevention activity group. Through those social activities, he realized the importance of the earthquake experience, and invented the portable earthquake experience device "Konamazu"(little catfish in Japanese).

Hideyuki Kamiya

First-class registered architect As he worked as the president of Parent‐Teacher Association in Nishikimachi Elementary School and Anjo-minami Junior High School, he was interested in the local children’s healthy development. Now he is working on the local activity and better school life supports for children there.

Hirofumi Takahashi

IT consultant He worked as an engineer from the dawn of web service in Japan, and released over 550 websites. At the end of overwork, he fell in cerebral hemorrhage. Facing many obstacles like taste disorders, paralysis, speech disorders, and visual field defects, but his visual field defects, which is said “impossible” to recover, slightly recovered by the unique rehab supported by the University Hospital. Yet it was not completely recovered, he went to the technical school of web, and studied everything he used to have again.

Hosei Nagano

Nagoya University / Associate Professor, JAXA/Researcher, Doctor of Engineering
Associate Professor, Nagoya University postgraduate course When he was very little, he loved the Martian and held admiration for the space. At the high school time, he watched the TV program that was discussing on the world 100 years later. It’s said “human might not be able to live on the earth because of too much energy consumption.” Since then, he was interested in the energy problem and Mars emigration plan. His specialty is the heat control for the satellite, performs the research & development that is particular about "Passive Heat Control System”. This system functions without electricity. In late years, he is engaged in not only the space but also a mobile device, a car, research & development of the energy utilization in the house in a keyword by “Heat".

Toshiki Yamagami

NPO Kids’ Idea School / President
School manager He used to be an attraction designer of theme park in Japan. For a long time, he studied Child Behaviour through his job. He quite the job to take an action “for children, for future,” then open up “Kids’ Idea School” in the renovated closed elementary school in Kuwana city, Mie. He encourage his students to enhance two abilities, imagination and creativity.

Yuji Suzuki

Tokyo University / Graduate student
First year graduate student, Tokyo University Master degree course He was born in 1992 in Anjo. Now he is studying condensed matther physics. Since he was juniour high school student, he was fascinated by language. First for English, he won several English contests, and later he challenged 9 languages in total - Chinese, French, Russian for example. In a sophomore year in the university, he started to learn the sign-language.
