The 3rd TEDxKL will look at how everyday people can do extraordinary acts. They are just like you and me but they have a secret to share.
Durreen Shahnaz is the Founder and Chairperson of Impact Investment Exchange, a social stock exchange for Asian social enterprises to raise growth capital. Durreen is also Head of the Programme on Social Innovation and Change and Adjunct Associate Professor at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy at the National University of Singapore.
Nadira Ilana is a 24 year old writer-filmmaker from Kota Kinabalu, East Malaysia. She procured her BFA in Film and Television at the Queensland University of Technology and also attended Montclair State University in New Jersey, USA in between. Nadira’s films have screened at the Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane, Australia and Filmmakers Anonymous Kuala Lumpur
Vishen Lakhiani is the co-founder of the quirky, award winning-company Mindvalley, which comprises of 50 incredibly smart young people from some 20 different countries. Their mission is to combine marketing and technology to help spread enlightened ideas.
Kwong Weng Yap
Inspirer, community leader, adventurer. Yap Kwong Weng’s defining confidence and conviction have enabled him to lead with purpose. What’s less known about him is that he develops social capital by leading youth teams and inspiring voluntarism.
Anas Zubedy is a unity advocate and founder of zubedy (M) sdn. bhd., a training provider with the mission to add value to society. With zubedy, he has developed and facilitated training programs which have helped change the lives of individuals and the culture of corporations.
Jamal RaslanA trilingual Malaysian who can’t seem to make up his mind between Bahasa Melayu & English as his main language, Jamal Raslan is a poet who is a great example of the conundrum that is the current Malaysian youth – modern, exposed, liberal but yet struggling to find a sense of belonging
TiC (formerly known as The Infernal’s Conundrum) comprises Angelo Manuel and Brendan Teh. Formed in 2009, the duo from PJ fuses elements of digital and analogue instruments to create their music, and has previously collaborated with numerous artistes from diverse musical backgrounds.
Dinesh a.k.a. Alphaque has always been interested in technology. Not merely an enthusiast, he finds joy in figuring how it works and tinkering with new-found ways to push its limits. A hacker by profession, Dinesh Nair has been actively involved in open source since 1986.
Dr. Zulkifli Mohamad is a highly-decorated dance-performance artist, curator, writer and director of performance theatre and media, winning such awards as the Asia Fellow Award 2002 (Indonesia Contemporary Dance), UNESCO’s Artisan of Southeast Asia 2000, Rockefeller’s Southeast Asian Islamic Scholars Award 2003(Performing Arts and Islam in Malaysia)
Yogesh Arora is one of Singapore’s most highly regarded chefs, whose culinary creations have scored him multiple prestigious awards. During his 10-year stint heading the kitchen team at Tiffin Room, Raffles Hotel as Chef de Cuisine, Yogesh has cooked for several Presidents, Prime Ministers, Bollywood and Hollywood stars.
Zlwin Chew is a well known practitioner of magic and mentalism. As an inquisitive child, he has been fascinated by the mysteries of magic, always trying to comprehend how they happen. A few years back, he joined a magic club and never looked back since.
Pelf Nyok Chen
Chen Pelf Nyok is a freshwater turtle researcher and conservationist based in Kuala Terengganu,Malaysia. Unbeknown to Pelf, she has had a strong affinity towards turtles when she was a little girl. However, she was only formally introduced to turtles in her undergraduate studies at Universiti Malaysia Terengganu.
