Motomu Nakashima

Currently he is a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Environmental Informatics. He wanted to be a scientist when he was in elementary school. He got interested in math (especially in the way of thinking about calculus), and physics (especially in mechanical) when he was in high school. Also, from this, he started to want to learn a subject where he can apply his knowledge to the real world, and he entered the Tokyo Institute of Technology in department of engineering. When he was a senior, he was belonging to the lavatory of studying the relations between the energy and vibration of machines. However, a supervisor recommended him to do a research about swimming of fish for the graduation study, and this was the beginning that he got into this area of studying. After that, he changes his subject of study to the swimming of human, and he simulates swimming mechanics and develops swimming robots.
