In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized (subject to certain rules and regulations).

Ilham Farah

My name is Ilham and I am originally from Morocco. I grew up in Casablanca and moved to Hong Kong when I was 16 to pursue an International Baccalaureate. I currently attend NYU Shanghai. I got interested in this topic when I found myself in an unusually weakening situation, which ultimately allowed me to question a lot of the preconceptions that we have about pain as a feeling.

Itmum Momin

From Bangladesh to India, back to Bangladesh, to the Kingdom of Swaziland; I now find myself calling NYU Shanghai, China's first Sino-American University, my home. Working as a Resident Assistant and as a Student Strategic Management Consultant, I hope to play whatever part I can, no matter how small, in helping NYU Shanghai grow and go from strength to strength.

Samantha Shi

As a child, I grew up in London, Halmstad (a small town in the southwest of Sweden), and Kuwait. I later moved to places like South Florida, Qatar and Shanghai, and through this journey, one of the only constant things was my love for music (and it still is!). I picked up playing guitar and started writing my own songs when I was about 13 years old. Since then, music has always been a form of self-expression and a source of releasing emotions.

Sarabi Nikolanna Eventide

Sarabi N. Eventide was born in England and raised in the United States. She's currently a third-year student majoring in Interactive Media Arts at NYU Shanghai. Sarabi founded Food and Festivals, a club that promotes cultural understanding through shared food and holiday experiences. She enjoys studying language and religion and one day hopes to make her mark in the world of education.
