TAHIR ABBAS is Professor of Sociology at Fatih University in Istanbul. Formerly, he was Reader in Sociology and founding Director of the Birmingham University Centre for the Study of Ethnicity and Culture, and Senior Research Officer at the Home Office and the Ministry of Justice in London. He has a BSc(Econ) from Queen Mary, London University, a MSocSc from Birmingham University, and a PhD in Ethnic Relations from Warwick University. His areas of expertise are the sociology of race, ethnicity, education and multiculturalism. He has published over 75 single and joint authored articles in internationally respected journals and in esteemed edited collections. His books include, The Education of British South Asians (Palgrave-MacMillan, 2004), Muslim Britain (Zed, 2005, ed.), Islamic Political Radicalism (Edinburgh University Press, 2007, ed.), Immigration and Race Relations (IB Tauris, 2007, eds., with F Reeves), Honour, Violence, Women and Islam (Routledge, 2011, eds., with MM Idriss), Islamic Radicalism and Multicultural Politics (Routledge, 2011), and Islam and Education (Routledge, 2011, ed., four volumes). He has been invited to deliver over 100 lectures in over 35 countries. Professor Abbas is an Elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, and Editorial Board member of Sociology of Islam (Brill, Netherlands) and East West Affairs: A Quarterly Journal of North-South Relations in Postnormal Times (Chicago, USA).
Gülhan Şen was born in Shumen, Bulgaria and completed primary school there. In 1985, her name changed to Galina Hristova Mihaylova due to a compulsory name change law, and a compulsory immigration law applied to Turks brought her to Turkey in 1989.
Şen graduated from Muhsin Adil Binal Ilkogretim Okulu (secondary school) and Kabatas Erkek Lisesi (high school) in Turkey, and studied radio and television at Istanbul University Communication Faculty. In London, Şen took courses on "Television News and Programs Preparation" at Reuters News Agency. Şen worked at HBB, BRT, Star TV and CNN Turk. After directing Turk Sinemasi 2003 ("Turkish Cinema 2003") and Sis Bulutunun Ardinda: Alzheimer ("Fog Clouds: Alzheimer"), she carried on her career by preparing, presenting and directing for the TV 8 Zamanin Ruhu: Zeitgeist ("Spirit of Time: Zeitgeist") programme. On 3 October 2007, her new programme Gulhan’in Galaksi Rehberi ("Gulhan’s Guide to the Galaxy"), a travel show primarily about travel abroad, began on TV 8.
Professor Nader Nada is a Professional Speaker and Author. He is the founder of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program and Design Thinking Lab at Fatıh Unıversıty, Istanbul, Turkey. He received his PhD degree from George Mason University, VA, USA. In 1991 he received the Achievement Award from the American Achievement Academy. He was NASA Fellow Researcher for 3 successive years in the design and implementation of the Earth Observation System (EOS), NASA’s largest global environmental system. Dr. Nada has a sincere interest in Creativity, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Human Development, Strategic Management, Cleaner Production, Lean Manufacturing, Energy Efficiency, Renewable Energy and Environment Technologies. He published 7 books and over 90 journal and conference papers. In 2002, he joined the UAE National Committee on the Development of the Primary and Secondary Education (UAE Vision 2020) as Minster of Education consultant and Chaired the UAE National Committee on Technology Education. In 2006 he has been assigned as a consultant for the minister of education in Egypt. He is currently the chair of the graduate Program in “Innovation and Entrepreneurship” at Fatih University,Turkey,
Associated Professor Mustafa Şeref Akın was born in 1973. He graduated from Galatasaray Highschool in 1992. He received his bachelor degree from Istanbul University in 1996, his master degree from Western Illinois University and his PhD degree in economics from Southern Illinois University, USA. He has worked extensively in and outside of Turkey for a range of education and private institutions. He worked Maltepe University (Turkey), Southern Illinois University and University of Missouri (U.S.A.), International Ataturk Alatoo University (Kyrgyzstan) and Suleiman Demirel University (Kazakhstan). He currently works at Fatih University (Turkey). In private business, he worked in real estate and mobile advertising. He currently gives lecture in economics, management, entrepreneurship and innovation at undergraduate and undergraduate level.
I have finished my Psychology undergradute education in 1983, and gradute degree of Clinical Psychology in 1984 in Bosphorus University. I got my PhD degree in Clinical Psychology in 1988 from Stirling University in Scotland. Then I started working as an assistant professor in Bosphorus University. I became Associate professor in 1993, and Professor in 1999. I did post-doctorate studies with Prof. M. Domjan in University of Texas at Austin for 3.5 years. Areas of study: Anxiety disorders, the development of Psychopathology and Classical Conditioning.
Dr. Yakup Çetin is the Chair of Department of Foreign Language Education, English Language Teaching at Fatih University in Istanbul. He is the author of some international ELT textbooks published in Turkey. He has taught English at different levels in several different countries. His main interests include foreign language learning and teaching methodology, second language acquisition, and psycholinguistics.
