A happy New Year from TEDxTheHague!

You are cordially invited to our next salon. Our January edition — themed Flourish — is curated by TEDxTheHague enthusiast Anne-Marie Reimert. Anne-Marie writes:

“Positive emotions, positive relations, engagement, meaning and accomplishment. Those 5 elements are what make people flourish. I strongly believe we can make the world a better place, if we set aside our fears and start living our best life. Not according to the expectations of others but by attuning to what gives our live meaning. Mine is to support awareness, beauty and love. I try to do so by making pilgrimage and helping others to find their path and the courage to walk it. These video's come from my inspirations: A pilgrim, a poet and a benedictine monk.”

We'll explore this theme by watching and looking into the following videos:

Anjali Appadurai: "Radical" Youth and Global Politics (TEDxDirigo)
Appadurai asks for a more holistic way of looking at things. A plea for systems change from an engaged young woman.

David Whyte: Life at the Frontier - The Conversational Nature of Reality
David Whyte is a poet and philosopher who helps organisations to deal with the unknown.

Mildred Norman Ryder “Peace Pilgrim”: Steps Toward Inner Peace
In 1952, Norman Ryder became the first woman to walk the entire length of the Appalachian Trail in one season. She also walked across the United States at least eight times, and likely more than 20 times. In 1964, her conversation "Steps Toward Inner Peace" was published. She stopped counting miles that year, having walked more than 40,000 km for peace.

David Steindl-Rast: Want to be happy? Be grateful.
The one thing all humans have in common is that each of us wants to be happy, says Brother David Steindl-Rast, a monk and interfaith scholar. And happiness, he suggests, is born from gratitude. An inspiring lesson in slowing down, looking where you’re going, and above all, being grateful.

RSVP if you want to attend
We hope this theme will resonate with you, awaken your curiosity and make you decide to attend TEDxTheHague. To stimulate conversation, we admit up to 20 guests. If you want to be put on our final guest list, please RSVP. First-come, first-served!.

We look forward to a stimulating evening filled with spirited conversation and new discoveries.

Don't miss it, till TEDx!
