About this event

This first TEDxITESM event is about the citizen's awakening.

To generate any change in any subject, you need people's participation. The principal objective is to convey the importance of each human being to generate a real change.

  • Alberto Villareal
    Alberto Villarreal is a Senior Industrial Designer based in Mexico City, focused on product development and technological/cultural innovation. Characterized by a diverse portfolio of projects and entrepreneurial drive, his work spans a variety of industries and products such as: sports equipment, private and public transportation, fashion, furniture, toys, consumer electronics, high-tech medical devices and appropriate technology. Up to date, his personal goal as a designer is: " To cultivate progress in society and environment through the strategic management of technology and culture "
  • Carlos Elizondo Mayer-Serra
    Awarded doctoral and master degrees in Political Science by Oxford University, England, in 1994. From 1995 until May of 2004 was General Director of CIDE. From may 2004 to November 2006 was Mexico’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative before the Organization for the Economic Cooperation and Development (OCDE). In 2009 he was reincorporated to the academic activity in the CIDE. He forms part of the National System of Investigators (SNI) since July 2001. He has written several publications in topics regarding political economics, public finances, law and politics and compared politics.
  • Hortensia Cuellar
    Doctor in Philosophy and Literature Studies by the University of Navarra, Spain, and postdoctoral studies in Europe. Teaches at the Tecnologico de Monterrey, Campus Mexico City and she is adviser of the Doctoral program of Family Sciences of the Institute of Educative Connections. Author of five books and coauthor in seven more, three of them published in Canada, Poland and Germany. Author of more than 40 articles of philosophy and education, some of them have been translated to Chinese mandarin. Received Medal to the Academic Merit on the part of the SEP and at the moment she is the Director of the Mexican Chapter of the International Society for Value Inquiry.
  • Jairo Calixto
    A man who has been almost in everything. Writer in the media written such as in newspaper Excélsior and now in the well-known magazine Millenium where it maintains weekly a column called Political zero. He is capable to talk in any space that is abra to the step to set out its riotous verbal persistence. The culture, the rock, cómic and the video games are their passions.
  • Mariano Gutiérrez
    Mariano presides over a leadership program that has trained almost 500 young people and supported the creation of a dozen of social projects. He has worked in international organisms (UNESCO, OCDE) and in Mexico’s government (Senate, SEGOB, STPS). At the moment he works in Pzifers’s public affairs for Latin America and is professor of the Universidad Iberoamericana, Mexico City.
  • Nelson Vargas
    Nelson Vargas Basañez has an experience in the swimming regimen, of more than 50 years. As a contestant, he won more than 30 medals, not including hundreds of Mexican recognitions. As a National Trainer and Technical Director, he accumulated important triumphs in Olympic Games, World-wide Championships etc. He was president of the Mexican Swimming Federation, president of the Mexican Sport Confederation, and chief director of the National Commission of culture and sports.
  • Raúl Cardós
    Raúl began his career as an editor in Leo Burnett in 1990, where he was promoted to Creative Director in 1993. He has worked with clients like: Procter & Gamble, Unilever, Kellogg´s, Volkswagen, Cuauhtémoc Montezuma, Hérdez and McDonald´s. He has won several prizes and recognitions. In July 2009, together with Horacio Navarro and Marco Colín, he initiated his own agency called “Anónimo”.
