About this event

When was the last time you heard a truly amazing story?

Or discovered an idea that flipped your world upside down?

Do you want to make a difference to your life or to your community?

On Sunday 6th April, TEDxUoN returns with 12 speakers and 3 performers sharing their dreams, ideas and experiences around the theme Think Global, Act Local.

A festival and celebration of fascinating ideas, people and communities from all across both Nottingham universities and the city itself, TEDxUoN will transform the way you think about problems and solutions both locally and across the world.

If you want to expand your horizons, develop skills to help the causes you're passionate about or meet the movers and shakers from across the city and university then TEDxUoN is a must!

In addition to our carefully curated speaker line-up, there's a vibrant extravaganza of interactive activities taking place throughout the day. From magical displays to dancing to art and film, TEDxUoN is a celebration of great global ideas blended with a local spice from the University and the city.

If you want to create positive change for yourself, your community or even the world, this is the event for you!

One of the best-value TEDx events in the UK, for just £7 you can be part of this adventure with lunch, snacks, drink and goodies thrown in as well! Check our facebook page and twitter for regular updates of speakers, competitions and sneak peeks as we run up to 6th April.

We can't wait to see you there!

Confirmed Speakers

  • Ann Grand
Ann Grand founded Café Scientifique in the UK, a movement which has spread across the world with hundreds of local cafes across all 5 continents. Cafe Scientifique started as an underground grassroots forum where scientists could share exciting ideas and developments with the public. In an intimate and cosy setting, anyone can engage in the latest scientific developments for a cup of coffee. Founded on a set of strong values about sharing science openly and universally, Café Scientifique has exploded in hundreds of cities and communities across the world. Anne will share the story of the movement’s success and explore how bringing people together through innovative communication can spark honest, intelligent and exciting conversation.
  • Tom Cledwyn
Only 100 living people in the UK have anonymously donated their organs and Tom Cledwyn is one of them. In an inspiring act of kindness, Tom gave away his kidney to a complete stranger in 2012 to raise awareness of the demand for organ and tissue donors in the UK. He starred in the Channel 4 documentary 'My Kidney and Me' which told the story of how his selflessness affected both himself and his close friends and family. Tom’s journey explores the differences in how we treat the people we love and the people we don’t know, and the challenges in sacrificing so much without seeing the direct impact on someone else’s life.
