Theme: Sparking Creativity
Los Angeles, CA, United States
January 25th, 2014
About this event
The theme of TEDxYouth@PalisadesCharterHighSchool will be “Sparking Creativity.” It is a call to classmates and community members to interrupt standard routines and spend an afternoon considering alternative perspectives. We want to engage our audience by featuring speakers who are thought-provoking, entertaining and inspiring.
Palisades Charter High School is composed of students from different ethnic and economic backgrounds. By hosting a TEDxYouth event, we aim to bring our community together in order to spark unique ideas -- ideas we can all utilize in both the classroom and the real world. The event will be entirely produced, marketed, filmed and organized by students who want to bring a positive change to our community.
Our inaugural TEDxYouth Event will be held at Palisades Charter High School in the Mercer Hall Auditorium on Saturday, January 25th.
We invite students “of all ages” to attend. Please spread the word through Facebook and Twitter. Tickets will be available soon!

LA-based sculptor Stephen Glassman first came to international attention in the early 1990′s when he began creating freeform, large-scale bamboo installations in urban sites devastated by the Rodney King Riots, Malibu Fires and Northridge Quake. These works became local symbols of resiliency as well as a springboard for the permanent, monumental-scale public works he creates today — art for art’s sake in a social context. Stephen’s work has been published worldwide, and been awarded with an NEA/White House Millennium Fellowship, a Chrysler Design Award nomination, the London International Creativity Award, and more.
