Do 2005. godine samo 15% sveta je bilo mapirano. Odsustvo mapa usporava dostavljanje pomoći posle prirodnih katastrofa i sakriva ekonomski potencijal u vidu neiskorišćene zemlje i nepoznatih puteva.
