Shimon Schocken en Noam Nisan ontwikkelden een curriculum voor hun studenten om stap voor stap een computer te bouwen. Ze maakten de tools, simulatoren, chipspecificaties en andere bouwstenen online beschikbaar en zagen tot hun verrassing dat duizenden de kans aangrepen om te leren, zelfstandig te werken en hun eigen klassen in de eerste Massive Open Online Course (MOOCs) te organiseren. Een oproep om niet cijfers, maar zelfmotivatie centraal te stellen.
