霊長類学者のイザベル・ベーンケ・イスキエルドが、見たことのないような映像を用いながら、類人猿のボノボたちがいかにして遊び-単独で行うもの、友達と、そして果ては性行為への前兆としての遊び-からさまざまなことを学んでいるかを示します。実際、遊びはボノボが問題を解決したり争いを避けたりする上で、重要な役割を果たしているように見えます。人間に近い類人猿でそんなことが起きているのですから、人間にとっても同じことが言えるのではないでしょうか?
