大切な家族を思いもよらない形で失ったことで、フィリス・ロドリゲスとアイーシャ・エルファフィは強い絆で結ばれました。2001年9月11日に起きたアメリカ同時多発テロ事件で、ロドリゲスは息子を亡くし、エルファフィの息子であるザカリアス・ムサウイはテロの関与から有罪判決で終身刑となりました。平和を願う思いから、この二人の母親はお互いを理解し、尊重するようになりました。
