Renomado paleontólogo Jack Horner passou sua carreira tentando reconstruir um dinossauro. Ele econtrou fósseis com vasos sanguíneos e tecidos moles extraordinariamente bem preservados, mas nunca com DNA intacto. Assim, em uma nova abordagem, ele está utilizando descendentes vivos de dinossauros (galinhas) e geneticamente modificando-as para ativar traços ancestrais - incluindo dentes, caudas, e até mãos - para criar uma "Galinhassauro".
