U svakom smislu, Elenor Longden je bila kao i svaki drugi student, na putu ka koledžu sa puno energije i bez ijedne brige na svetu. Tako je bilo dok glasovi u njenoj glavi nisu počeli da govore. U početku bezopasni, ovi unutrašnji naratori postali su sve više protivnički i diktatorski, preokrećući njen život u živi košmar. Sa dijagnostikovanom šizofrenijom, na lekovima i na kraju odbačena od strane sistema koji nije znao kako da joj pomogne, Longdenova priča priču kretanja svog dugogodišnjeg putovanja nazad ka mentalnom zdravlju i pokazuje da je kroz učenje da sluša svoje glasove došla do preživljavanja.
